Coast Guard Squadron 202 helps people harvest rice

This afternoon, June 14, Tran Quang Vung, Political Commissar of the 202nd Coast Guard Squadron (under the Command of the 2nd Coast Guard Region), said that in recent days, due to the impact of storm No. 1, prolonged heavy rains have caused flooding in some areas where the unit is stationed. In this situation, the unit has urgently mobilized forces to help people harvest rice to limit damage caused by storms and rains.

Accordingly, the unit mobilized officers and soldiers to coordinate with the Border Guard Station of Cua Viet Port and the authorities of Gio Hai commune, Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province, to urgently go to the fields to help people harvest ripe rice.

During the day, the unit supported people to harvest about 7,000 ^m2 of flooded rice and transport it to a dry place.

It is known that heavy rain over a large area from June 11-13 flooded 234 hectares of rice, 17 hectares of melons, 29 hectares of sweet potatoes and various vegetables in Gio Hai commune.

Currently, local authorities are calculating the damage to report to superiors for solutions and support for people.
