License plate numbers of provinces and cities from 1-7: Ho Chi Minh City has the most prefixes

On the evening of June 15, the Traffic Police Department announced that the authorities had just made a decision on vehicle registration and license plate issuance after merging localities.

Accordingly, the license plates of localities will remain the same. For merged localities, the license plates will include the license plates of the localities before the merger.

Vehicle registration certificates and license plates issued before July 1, 2025 will continue to be used.

Organizations and individuals can choose to register their vehicles at the commune-level police station in the province or city where the vehicle owner resides or has his/her headquarters.
