Will Hanoi rename the Capital Youth Park to Vo Thi Sau Park?

The Hanoi People's Committee is seeking public opinion on renaming the Capital Youth Park to Vo Thi Sau Park for the land area where the park has been built and planned in Thanh Nhan ward, Hai Ba Trung district.

The Capital Youth Park was approved for planning by the Hanoi People's Committee in 2000, with a total investment of over 280 billion VND, implemented in the period 2002-2006.

Regarding the adjustment and supplementation of the 2025 Land Use Plan in Hai Ba Trung District, the Hanoi People's Committee has issued a decision to reclaim part of the agricultural land area to build the Capital Youth Park from the old QueenBee gate to the boundary of the planned land area to build the Hai Ba Trung District Cultural - Sports Center in the Northwest of the Capital Youth Park.

The agricultural land area planned for recovery is located in a prime location on Vo Thi Sau Street under the management of Dong Thanh Agricultural Cooperative. This area is currently rented out as a car park, garage, restaurant, etc. This area is all temporary construction, making the whole street shabby and unsightly.

According to information from Hai Ba Trung District, the district has established a Land Clearance Council for the above project. After the land is reclaimed, Hai Ba Trung District will renovate the park's infrastructure, returning the open space to the people. Hai Ba Trung District will build infrastructure connecting to the area around the park that has been fenced off and renovated before.

Recently, at the explanation meeting organized by the Standing Committee of Hanoi People's Council on the management, investment, renovation, upgrading and construction of new parks and flower gardens, a series of problems of the Capital Youth Park were raised again.

Mr. Dam Van Huan, Head of the Urban Committee of the Hanoi People's Council, said that the report of the City People's Committee clearly showed that some parks were constructed contrary to the planning and the original purpose, including the Capital Youth Park. Mr. Huan asked the Director of the Hanoi Department of Construction to clarify the cause and the progress of the correction in the coming time.

According to the report of the Hanoi People's Committee, in the period of 2021-2025, the handling of violations at the Capital Youth Park reached about 60%. The city has assigned the district to study and adjust the 1/500 detailed planning as a basis for overall renovation of the park.
