Hanoi prepares comprehensively for the High School Graduation Exam with the largest number of candidates in the country

On the afternoon of June 20, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son worked with Hanoi city on preparations for the 2025 High School Graduation Exam.

Also attending the meeting were Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong, Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training , Head of the National Steering Committee for the 2025 High School Graduation Exam; representatives of leaders of functional units of the Ministry of Education and Training; representatives of leaders of ministries and central agencies related to the organization of the exam.

Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the 2025 High School Graduation Exam of the city, said that up to now, Hanoi has carefully prepared the conditions and organization procedures, ensuring that the exam takes place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.

This year's exam takes place in a special context, as it is the first exam for students studying under the 2018 General Education Program, while still ensuring the exam for students studying under the 2006 General Education Program who have not graduated or need to retake the exam for university admission.

As the locality with the largest number of candidates taking the high school graduation exam in the country, with the participation of the entire political system, Hanoi has carefully prepared the conditions for facilities and equipment at the exam sites; handling unusual situations; plans to support candidates; transportation and preservation of exam papers; storage and transportation of exam papers; marking of exams... According to Mr. Tran The Cuong, although there are only a few days left to finish operating the three-level government apparatus, the exam steering committees of the districts and towns all affirmed their responsibility and seriousness to direct and organize the exam with the highest determination.

At this time, 100% of the exam sites have been carefully inspected by the exam steering committees of the districts to ensure that they meet the requirements for organizing the exam. With a large number of exams, including more than 100,000 essay exams and more than 500,000 multiple-choice exams, the Hanoi exam council has arranged 2 exam marking locations to ensure that they meet the exam regulations.

The test scoring location is equipped with surveillance cameras, with police forces protecting the test papers and the test scoring area according to regulations. Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son emphasized that every year, the High School Graduation Exam is a major exam with many goals, which has always been closely directed by the Ministry of Education and Training and departments, branches and localities over the past many years and has achieved good results.

However, this year's High School Graduation Exam has many special features, with a large number of candidates taking the exam, and it is organized for both the 2018 and 2006 General Education Programs. The scale, nature, methods and requirements of this exam are more complicated than previous years.

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son highly appreciated Hanoi's preparations and implementation of work in accordance with the requirements of the National Steering Committee, demonstrating thoughtfulness and professionalism, even though Hanoi faced more challenges than other provinces and cities. The Minister of Education and Training also acknowledged Hanoi's initiative in organizing support for students to review for exams, contributing to reducing the pressure of exam preparation, extra teaching and learning, which is difficult and costly.

This is in line with the general direction of the whole industry in enhancing students' self-study ability and promoting digital transformation. At the same time, Minister Nguyen Kim Son also requested to ensure smooth communication in the direction between the City Steering Committee and the National Steering Committee, as well as with the examination sites. Any unusual problems must be reported immediately for timely handling.

“Each exam has different situations, no two years are the same. Therefore, it is necessary to pay close attention to backup plans, predict the possibility of situations, be cautious in directing, avoid subjectivity and take things lightly,” the Minister requested.

Minister Nguyen Kim Son also noted some important contents on strengthening response plans to unusual weather. At the same time, during the exam period, the Capital Education sector also needs to simultaneously deploy tasks for the new school year, stabilize the operations of general schools in the area; implement the Government's direction on utilizing the headquarters of district and commune-level units to effectively serve education, avoiding waste...

Receiving the direction of the Minister of Education and Training, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha, Head of the Steering Committee for the City High School Graduation Exam, expressed her gratitude to the Minister for directly inspecting, evaluating, acknowledging and encouraging the efforts of the City Steering Committee for the exam, departments, districts and towns.

“The heads of the district and county steering committees have basically had new work arrangements, with many tasks, but everyone is making efforts to fulfill their responsibilities until the last minute, in accordance with the direction, for the honor and for the children in their area,” said Ms. Vu Thu Ha.

The Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee also emphasized that although Hanoi has prepared carefully and very early, learned from previous years and developed specific plans, only when the exam is completed in all stages, ensuring the correct procedures, can it be considered to have completed the task.

The City Steering Committee also requested relevant units to continue reviewing in the next few days, checking plans and forces, ensuring readiness in all situations, without formality, without subjectivity, with the highest determination.
