According to Google, these AI models with "advanced multimodal and inference capabilities" have helped transform Google Translate from a simple search tool into a communication and learning assistant.
The live conversation translation feature is integrated on both Android and iPhone platforms, providing an instant and effective communication solution. When users press the "Live Translation" button, the AI will listen and translate the speech in real time.
The translation will be read aloud and displayed as text on the screen, making it easy for users to follow, creating a smooth and natural conversation.
The superiority of this feature lies in the intelligent processing ability of AI Gemini. The AI model can smoothly switch between speakers, recognize natural pauses, and understand different tones and accents.
In particular, AI also has the ability to filter out ambient noise, ensuring high-quality translation even in crowded places like airports or cafes.
The feature will support more than 70 languages at launch, including Vietnamese, Arabic, French, Hindi, Korean, Spanish, and Tamil. Google says users in the US, India, and Mexico will be the first to experience the feature. It's worth noting that the feature requires an internet connection to work.
In addition to the conversation translation feature, Google Translate also added a new language learning mode, developed based on user feedback. Google said that a third of current users use Google Translate to support foreign language learning. This demand prompted Google to integrate a specialized learning feature right into the app, instead of launching a standalone app.

This practice mode is similar to the Duolingo app, allowing users to practice listening and speaking skills. After setting personal levels and goals, the AI will create customized practice scenarios.
Exercises are built on expert advice and the latest research on language acquisition.
Available scenarios are also provided, including work communication, everyday interactions, conversations with family, friends, and many other situations.
During the workout, AI will track progress and adjust the exercise in real time to suit the user's level.
Google Translate's mode is still in beta, with some limitations. Initially, the feature is limited to teaching French and Spanish to English speakers, and English to Spanish, Portuguese, and French speakers. However, language options will expand in the future.
Notably, both of these new features are completely free on the Google Translate app. However, Google has not yet announced a specific pricing plan for the training mode when it officially launches.
