Specifically, security experts at Pradeo have discovered two malicious applications on the Android platform, "File Recovery and Data Recovery" and "File Manager", which can silently steal user data such as device information, contacts, real-time location, email accounts, image, audio and video files.
Two malicious applications have just been discovered by security experts at Pradeo. |
Accordingly, both of these malicious applications on CH Play come from the same developer. Especially in the description, the developer affirms that they do not collect any data from users.
However, Bleeping Computer confirmed that these two malicious applications had silently stolen a series of user data. Then, they automatically sent the above data to a server in China.
What's notable is that these two malicious apps can automatically hide from the home screen, making it harder to find and remove them from the phone.
After the above information was published, Google quickly removed these two malicious software from the CH Play app store. Before being removed, they had attracted more than 1.5 million downloads.
