Do Trung Kien (grade 12, Bien Hoa High School for the Gifted, Ha Nam ) is one of four Vietnamese students participating in the Abu Rayhan Beruni International Chemistry Olympiad (ARBIChO) 2025.
Do Trung Kien has been a specialized student at Bien Hoa School since grade 6. In grade 8, he started studying Chemistry and was interested from the first class.
Kien's love for the subject of elements, compounds, reactions between substances... grew through the classes of Ms. Hoang Phuong Thao, Mr. Dinh Trong Minh and Ms. Dinh Thi Xoan - the homeroom teacher and leader of the school's Chemistry team...

During his studies, Kien proactively created a timetable and planned activities to study all subjects, as well as balance between studying and participating in extracurricular activities. His secret to studying Chemistry well is to pay attention to lectures in class and self-study, mastering theory and practice.
In addition to his love for Chemistry, Kien also loves music . He said: “I often listen to instrumental, lo-fi music to relax after stressful study hours. This is also a way to help me maintain emotional balance during review periods and exams,” he said.
Up to now, Kien has been an excellent student for many years, winning many high prizes in Chemistry. Including the Gold Medal in the Excellent Student Competition in the Northern Coastal and Delta Region in 2022 - 2023, 2023 - 2024; second prize at the provincial level, third prize at the national level in the Excellent Student Competition in Chemistry in 2023 - 2024...
Most recently, in the 2024-2025 school year, he won first prize at the provincial level and second prize at the national level in the Chemistry competition for excellent students.

At the ARBIChO 2025 exam, Do Trung Kien and two other students, Nguyen The Minh ( Hanoi - Amsterdam High School) and Trinh Duc Anh (Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted), won gold medals.
Trinh Viet Hoang (Ha Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh) won the Silver Medal.
Notably, at the Abu Rayhan Beruni International Chemistry Olympiad 2025 (ARBIChO), Kien excellently won the Gold Medal, was the only contestant of the exam to achieve a perfect score, and also achieved the highest theoretical score.
The male student from Ha Nam shared that he was very happy when he saw his name on the list of candidates winning Gold medals on the screen at the ARBIChO 2025 results announcement and award ceremony.
“I was overwhelmed with joy when I found out that I got a perfect score. The happiest and proudest moment was when I raised the red flag with a yellow star of the Fatherland and heard the two words Vietnam resound in the intellectual arena. this international", Kien expressed.

Kien added that another memory of attending the ARBIChO competition in Uzbekistan was that the Vietnamese team gave meaningful gifts associated with traditional images and culture to many international contestants. They were very excited to receive the gifts.
According to Kien, the ARBIChO exam in Uzbekistan is not only a playground for knowledge and intelligence, but also an opportunity for young people to exchange and learn and promote the image of the country. “We feel very happy when the small gifts are enthusiastically and respectfully received by candidates from many countries; as well as contributing a small part to introducing Vietnam,” Kien expressed.
ARBIChO International Chemistry Olympiad Gold Medalist Do Trung Kien aspires to become a doctor in the future. He plans to study General Medicine at Hanoi Medical University to fulfill this dream.
The ARBIChO exam is organized by the Ministry of Preschool and General Education of Uzbekistan every two years from 2023. It is an important preparation step for the IChO 2026, which Uzbekistan will host.
This year's exam is considered difficult and creative, with two practical tests (20 points each) and eight theoretical questions (7.5 points each), requiring candidates to not only have solid knowledge but also be flexible and have critical thinking.
The ARBIChO 2025 competition attracted 111 contestants from 14 countries. The competition was organized in the official format of the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), consisting of two parts: theory and practice, each lasting 5 hours.
