Yesterday, as soon as they returned home, the Vietnamese runner-up traveled to Ninh Binh , where the second leg of the SEA V.League (from August 8 to 10) took place. Looking back at the final match in which they lost 2-3 to Thailand, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said that the Vietnamese players played with the utmost effort. However, the experienced Thai players demonstrated their ability, bravery and efficiency at important moments. "We still could not defeat Thailand, but the gap in skill level has been narrowed. The whole team will learn from the matches in the first leg to prepare for the second leg. That is also a preparation step for the biggest goal this year, which is to compete for the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games in December," said Mr. Kiet.
The team also decided to change the personnel when adding the main striker Nguyen Thi Phuong to replace libero Nguyen Thi Ninh Anh. With 4 main strikers Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Nguyen Thi Phuong, the Vietnamese team has more attacking options. In the first leg, Nguyen Thi Uyen was often given opportunities but did not play as expected. Thanh Thuy has not regained her peak form, and Nhu Quynh has had few opportunities to play. The Vietnamese women's team needs to solve the personnel problem in the main striker position if they want to defeat Thailand. Because if they give all the ball to their opposite number Bich Tuyen, it will be easy for the opponent to predict and it will also make it difficult for her to maintain her physical strength.
