Giroud's farewell match for LAFC will be on June 29, against the Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS. After a year playing in the United States, Giroud is eager to return to play in Europe.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Giroud has agreed to sign a one-year contract with Ligue 1 side Lille. Giroud has had a medical with Lille and is ready to return to his homeland at the end of his career. LAFC agreed to let Giroud leave after the deal was agreed between the two parties.
The French striker has made 37 appearances and scored five goals for LAFC since joining from AC Milan last summer. During his time in the US, Giroud became the oldest European player to score in the competition's history (38 years, 6 months and 19 days).
At LAFC, he also won a title, the National Cup, in 2024.
Giroud played for a number of clubs in France, including Grenoble, Istres, Tours and Montpellier, before joining Arsenal in 2012. Notably, he won the Ligue 1 title with Montpellier in the 2011/12 season.
At Arsenal, Giroud won three more FA Cups and three Community Shields. After leaving Arsenal, Giroud played for Chelsea and AC Milan before moving to the United States to play for LAFC.
