To make each day more meaningful
Participating in the “Summer of Charity” Blood Donation Festival at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (from June 9 to 15) are thousands of people from many different places, doing different jobs. They can be civil servants, students, workers, or retirees, but they all have one thing in common: they are willing to donate blood to save lives, so that each day of life becomes more useful and meaningful.
Talking to reporters of Hanoi Moi Newspaper, Ms. Do Thi Thuy (born in 1982, has donated blood 15 times, currently living in Thanh Xuan district) said: “My husband, I and our two children regularly participate in voluntary blood donation, because we realize that this is a small act but can contribute to saving lives. I am currently working in the field of women and grassroots security, I often proactively encourage relatives, friends, and parents of students to participate in blood donation when Thanh Xuan district mobilizes. I just think simply, each person, if they see something beneficial for society, then join in, surely society will become better and better.”
Cao Van Hai, a student at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, member of the Hanoi Youth Blood Donation Campaign Committee, who has donated blood 11 times, shared:
“Once, when I donated blood at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, I saw the grateful eyes of the children being treated there. That was when I realized that this small action could bring great hope to many patients in need of life. From the first time I donated blood to the next times, each time was a special feeling because I knew that my small unit of blood was contributing to helping the patient revive...”.
In addition to Ms. Do Thi Thuy and Ms. Tao Van Hai, there are many families who regularly participate and mobilize their relatives to donate blood. They are the couple of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Sinh, Dong Anh district, who have donated blood 39 times and mobilized 82 people to donate blood. They are the family of Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong in Cau hamlet, Thanh Liet commune, Thanh Tri district, who have donated blood 42 times and mobilized 85 relatives, neighbors, and friends to donate blood. There are even people like Mr. Vu Manh Hung in Giang Bien ward, Long Bien district - who has donated blood 50 times; Mr. Nguyen Huu Thanh, a member of the Red Cross Association of Yen Hoa ward, Cau Giay district - who has donated blood 49 times...
The journey of perseverance and persistence in "giving"
Along with the faces mentioned above, there are many other typical examples of voluntary blood donation who have been actively participating, sharing their own blood, contributing to spreading and sowing "seeds of kindness" to the community, for a healthy, united, and compassionate community.
Participating in the “Summer of Charity” Blood Donation Festival for the first time at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung, born in 2001, currently working at ATI VietnamEducation Company Limited (Bac Tu Liem District) said: “I followed the information shared by everyone, so I knew about this event and arranged to participate. Coming here, I feel happy to be a member of the community of people who live positively, participating in donating blood to save people. I will definitely spread this meaningful activity, not only because of its humanitarian meaning, but also because blood donors themselves will have a better understanding of their own health.”
In recent times, the Hanoi Red Cross Society has always focused on promoting voluntary blood donation, coordinating with relevant units to carry out, from propaganda, mobilization, to consulting, caring for and honoring blood donors. Since the beginning of 2025, the whole city has received 109,000 units of blood through voluntary blood donation. The Society has also directed districts, towns, universities and colleges to organize blood donation on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day (June 14); deploy the Campaign "Red Blood Drops Summer 2025"...
Affirming that Hanoi is always the leading unit in the country in the voluntary blood donation movement, Chairman of the Hanoi Red Cross Society Le Tu Luc said that in the coming time, along with continuing to promote propaganda and mobilization to all classes of people and managers and leaders on voluntary blood donation, the society will closely coordinate with departments, branches, members of the Steering Committee and institutes and hospitals to organize well the reception on voluntary blood donation day at the grassroots level, organize inspection and supervision of voluntary blood donation work at units, districts, towns, etc. "Voluntary blood donation is not a temporary action, but a persistent and persistent journey of "giving". Hopefully, more and more people, agencies and units will continue to accompany and care about the journey of donating blood to save lives, save people, spreading the message "Donate blood, give hope - Join hands to save people", Mr. Le Tu Luc expressed.
