Squid rolls - a delicious dish by the waters of Ha Long

Ha Long squid cake is a famous specialty of Ha Long sea, Quang Ninh, Vietnam. This dish has been recognized by the Vietnam Record Book Center as one of the 50 famous specialties of Vietnam.

Squid cake is made from fresh cuttlefish, usually caught in the waters of Ha Long or Van Don. The cuttlefish here has firm, sweet meat, a characteristic milky white color and is not fishy. The special feature of Ha Long cuttlefish cake is the manual processing, especially the hand pounding stage . The cuttlefish is pounded with a stone mortar, helping to retain the characteristic crispiness and chewiness that machine-made cakes cannot match.

Ha Long squid cake is not only a delicious dish but also a culinary symbol of the heritage land, imbued with the flavor of the ocean and the quintessence of the traditional cooking methods of the local people.
