World oil prices
On the morning of August 22, 2025, Brent crude oil price reached 67.05 USD/barrel, up 0.23 USD compared to yesterday. WTI crude oil also increased slightly to 62.88 USD/barrel. The increase was supported by strong demand in the US and unpredictable developments from the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Analyst Gaurav Sharma said that if Russia gradually returns to the international community, the oil market could come under pressure. However, the floor price of $ 65 / barrel of Brent oil is still holding.
The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported a more-than-expected drop of 6 million barrels in crude oil inventories last week. The decline suggests increased demand, but the increase in oil at the Cushing hub suggests that consumption is not yet sustainable.
Domestic gasoline prices
On the afternoon of August 21, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance adjusted gasoline prices upward. E5RON92 gasoline increased by VND110/liter to VND19,464/liter, and RON95-III increased by VND208/liter to VND20,092/liter.
On the contrary, oil prices were adjusted down. Diesel fell by VND172/liter to VND17,905/liter, kerosene fell by VND206/liter to VND17,814/liter, and fuel oil fell by VND152/kg to VND15,116/kg.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that world petroleum prices fluctuated due to a sharp decline in US crude oil inventories, combined with tensions in Ukraine and global economic instability.
General trend
Since the beginning of the year, there have been 33 adjustments in domestic gasoline prices, including 14 increases, 13 decreases and 6 opposite fluctuations. Price trends continue to depend on global energy demand, geopolitical situations and policy decisions from the US and other major countries.
