Mr. Ajay Hinduja and his wife Namrata appeared in court in Geneva on June 10.

In court, the prosecution presented evidence showing that the four defendants had committed human trafficking, specifically bringing mostly illiterate maids from India to a mansion in Geneva, Switzerland, confiscating their passports and forcing them to work 16 hours a day without overtime pay.

The maids are paid between 6.3 and 11.4 million VND per month, which is 90% less than what they should be earning in Switzerland. The wages are paid in rupees, transferred directly to accounts in India. With an estimated fortune of 47 billion USD, the Hinduja family tops the list of Britain's richest people compiled by The Sunday Times .
