Sso and Sam are a couple from Korea who are passionate about traveling and have been to many countries such as Turkey, Georgia, Thailand and Vietnam. Recently, they had a long trip to Da Nang and spent a lot of time exploring the unique cuisine there.
Not only visiting local restaurants, the couple also went to places that were honored by Michelin not long ago.
Among them, there is a sidewalk restaurant located in My An ward, Ngu Hanh Son district. The restaurant received the Michelin Bid Gourmand 2024 award for "having good quality food at affordable prices".
Sso said that before the restaurant was introduced by Michelin, a Vietnamese friend also suggested this place to her. The restaurant specializes in duck dishes and is open until late at night.
“A friend told me that this is a delicious, cheap place to eat, open late, so we were curious and wanted to visit today,” Sso said.
The Korean female tourist also revealed that even though they arrived at the restaurant at 9pm, they were surprised by the large number of customers. “Every time we pass by, it is bustling and crowded.”
At the restaurant, Sso and his wife ordered a duck porridge for two and a plate of duck salad. These are the two most popular dishes here and have been highly praised by Michelin reviewers.
Sso admitted that ordering food at local restaurants is often a big challenge for her. However, when she comes here, she no longer feels that way because the owner can speak English and the staff is enthusiastic and professional.
After just a few minutes of waiting, the food was served. Both of them were very excited because the dishes looked very appealing.
Sso even "froze" for a few seconds when he learned that a meal for two only cost 70,000 VND, of which duck porridge cost 10,000 VND and duck salad cost 60,000 VND.
She was most surprised by the duck porridge because she ordered a large bowl for two people.
“I saw that the table next to me had customers eating smaller portions of porridge. My bowl of porridge was quite large because it was for two people and only cost 10,000 VND. In total, each person spent 5,000 VND on porridge,” the female tourist calculated.
When enjoying it, Sso commented that the porridge was “easy to eat, feels like chicken porridge”. Duck porridge is cooked from rice, green beans and duck broth so it is rich and fragrant.
Duck salad has a lot of meat, an attractive sweet and sour taste because it is mixed with some ingredients such as green mango, green banana, fig, basil leaves, etc. She rated the dishes as not only very cheap but also served in full, with attractive flavors.
The only downside is that the duck salad is made with the bones intact, which she finds a bit inconvenient to eat. “It would be great if this dish was made from deboned meat.”
At the end of the meal, Sso observed that the restaurant was still crowded. She said that since the restaurant was open late, “it seemed like a good place for people to sober up after a party.”
