Master of Finance Do Thi Ngoc Anh - University of the West of England (TUWE Bristol, UK) - shared at the talk show "Understanding AI and technology to learn English effectively" on April 21 at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City.

The activity is part of a series of programs of the 5 Good Student Festival and the 2024 "LAFES" Foreign Language Club Festival of this school.

Sharing the same view, Master of Communication Management Pham Cong Nhat, lecturer of journalism at Deakin - Australia, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University), pointed out the plus points of Gen Z such as being proficient in technology, being able to multitask...

According to Mr. Nhat, Gen Z's personality and worldview are being significantly impacted, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, by persuasive technology. This sometimes causes them to lack critical thinking.

Therefore, it directly affects the ability to recognize information and knowledge on the Internet. Not to mention, the concentration and patience of Generation Z are not as good as before.

"This also affects online learning, especially when there are too many distracting factors such as chatting, music , and news," Mr. Nhat analyzed.

Ms. Do Thi Ngoc Anh believes that currently, teaching and learning English is a gradual accumulation, with little clear learning path or mindset. It is also possible to teach and learn using foreign methods, but it is difficult to suit Vietnamese people.

According to Ms. Ngoc Anh, Gen Z or anyone pursuing a foreign language needs to make the most of technology and AI because algorithms can analyze the learner's strengths and weaknesses to make appropriate suggestions, thereby personalizing learning.

Technology also helps analyze learners' pronunciation, intonation, fluency, providing instant feedback and suggestions.

"In particular, technology helps to assess in detail the level and progress of language completion of learners through tests, questions and automatic simulations, which is often difficult for teachers to closely follow," said Ms. Ngoc Anh.
