In 2023, the rural road along the Xeo Ro canal will be upgraded and widened by about 3.5m to allow small trucks to pass easily. However, many sections of the awning are only 2m high, forcing vehicles to stop or take a detour. Mr. Danh Minh, residing in Dong Quy hamlet, An Bien commune, said: “My car is small but still cannot pass through the low awning. Every time a customer rents an orchestra, I have to hire more people and park the car far from home, which is very time-consuming and costly.”

Not only awnings, many households also leave flower pots, water jars, tables, chairs, etc. all over the sidewalk, or do not remove old structures to restore traffic space. The 5.5m wide road through Minh Lac quarter, Chau Thanh commune is clear, but after only 1km, the road narrows to a "dead end" because of encroaching awnings and walls.

Mr. Danh Hanh - Secretary of the Minh Lac Ward Party Cell said that this situation has lasted for more than 2 years. The road is more than 3km long, but after only 1km, it has been narrowed due to walls, porches, and encroaching factories. Trucks and large vehicles are forced to take a detour. Although there have been more than 90 petitions, they have not been thoroughly resolved. Ms. Truong Kim Dieu, residing in Group 6, Minh Lac Ward, one of the households who submitted the petition, was upset: “The road has been widened but cannot be used as expected. My family has difficulty transporting construction materials, so we have to send them by river or take a detour. Once, an ambulance could not enter, so we had to use a boat to get them through the barrier. Recently, there was also a household welding zinc facing the road, which is very dangerous.”
The above situation has been repeatedly reported by the people during voter meetings and through complaints, but has not been resolved. The people hope that the government will take measures to handle it.
