At around 3 p.m., thunderstorms caused heavy rain over a wide area in many areas of Ho Chi Minh City. The heavy rain lasted until rush hour, causing flooding on many streets such as Dinh Bo Linh, Ung Van Khiem (Binh Thanh District), Hiep Binh, To Ngoc Van (Thu Duc City)... Some sections were flooded so deeply that vehicles stalled, forcing people to wade through the water to find a place to fix their vehicles.

The Ung Van Khiem street section from Nguyen Huu Canh bridge to the Martyrs' Monument intersection, more than a kilometer long, was severely congested. Thousands of motorbikes and cars inched their way home. The number of vehicles pouring from the city center toward the Eastern bus station grew larger and larger, encroaching on the adjacent lane, turning the street into a one-way street.

According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, strong thunderstorms have caused heavy rain in Ho Chi Minh City. Rainfall measured in many places is from 20-30 mm. Some areas in the South such as Dong Nai and Binh Duong have rain of more than 90 mm.

Today is the first day that more than one million candidates nationwide begin their high school graduation exams. Bad weather has made it difficult for candidates to get to the exam sites as well as for their parents to pick them up.
