With 1 provincial Women's Union and 102 commune and ward Women's Unions, after the reorganization, the organization faces both opportunities and challenges, requiring proactiveness, creativity and especially a spirit of closeness to the grassroots, aiming to take care of the practical interests of members and women.
MAKE NEW REQUEST
The merger of administrative areas means the unification of the Women's Union organizations in many communes, wards and towns. This increases the scale of the operating area, expands the number of members that each grassroots association manages; at the same time, leads to more diversity in terms of population conditions, needs and cultural characteristics of each region.
Each commune and ward level Women's Union can now be in charge of an area one and a half or twice as large as before. This is not only a challenge in terms of organization and management, but also requires the Union's staff to improve their capacity, increase flexibility in approaching, interacting with and grasping the aspirations of the Women's Union in each residential area and each specific target group.
The Women's Union of Son Qui Ward held a meeting with the Bank for Social Policies to discuss solutions to effectively implement loan entrustment activities for HVPN. |
During that process, the Women's Union of Dong Thap province determined: All activities must be directed towards the grassroots, close to the practical life of women, not be bureaucratized or far from reality, and certainly cannot be "made for the sake of a movement". Being close to the grassroots is not only a requirement of geographical distance, but also the real presence of the Union's cadres in the daily life of the Women's Union, in places where women need it most - from residential groups, hamlets, to each livelihood group, and vulnerable women's group.
ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES ARE LINKED TO PRACTICAL BENEFITS OF WOMEN
In response to the requirements, the Dong Thap Provincial Women's Union has proactively developed a master plan to adapt to the new situation with groups of solutions that are focused on and implemented synchronously.
Accordingly, the Provincial Women's Union coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to guide the process of merging the Union organization to ensure compliance with procedures; at the same time, reviewed and arranged a team of key cadres with qualities, experience and ability to closely follow the locality, flexibly handling arising work. After stabilizing the organization, the Union focused on training the professional skills and Union work skills for grassroots cadres, especially emphasizing the skills of grasping public opinion, detecting problems from the grassroots and handling practical situations.
Strengthening the branch and group system - maintaining the connection between members. In large areas with a large number of members, the branch and group organizations play the role of "backbone" in connecting and maintaining the movement. Therefore, strengthening the team of Branch Leaders and Women's Group Leaders who are prestigious, close to the people, know how to listen and flexibly manage is an urgent requirement. At the same time, models of small group activities, women's groups based on interests, professions... are also encouraged to be replicated, so that the Association's activities can truly penetrate each residential area and each group of members.
Innovating the content and methods of operation - doing it for real, effectively, for the benefit of members. Not only organizing propaganda and communication programs, the Association needs to find a way to make its activities bring real value to each woman. From livelihood support, introducing loan sources, credit savings models, supporting women to start businesses, creating jobs on the spot... to legal advice, protecting the rights of disadvantaged women - all are carried out from the grassroots, for members. In particular, coordination models such as periodic meetings between the grassroots Women's Union and the Social Policy Bank, small group consultation on startups, guidance on digital transformation in households - are clear evidence of the spirit of "getting involved from the grassroots, starting from the actual needs of members".
Strengthening propaganda, listening and reflecting the concerns of the grassroots. After the merger, many areas have changes in planning, transportation, infrastructure, public services, etc., which can easily lead to people's concerns. Therefore, the Women's Union needs to strengthen its grasp of public opinion, contact members, organize dialogues and thematic activities for members to express their opinions; at the same time, promptly reflect and advise on proposals to Party committees and authorities at all levels for timely solutions.
Strengthening coordination and promoting the strength of association in performing tasks. With the changing scale of the organization, the activities of the Women's Union need more effective coordination with organizations and functional sectors, especially in implementing national target programs, social security work, preventing and combating domestic violence, social evils... The Provincial Women's Union continues to promote its role as a connection, a support bridge for grassroots associations to benefit from multi-sectoral resources, improving the effectiveness of practical activities.
The post-reorganization and merger period is the time when the Women's Union needs to demonstrate its role of "being close to the people, understanding the people, and serving the people" most clearly. The Women's Union of Dong Thap province determined that: All policies, models, and solutions must originate from the grassroots, stemming from the real needs of women; at the same time, all results of activities must be measured by the satisfaction, trust, and level of attachment of members to the Union.
From the right policy, flexible methods to the practical spirit - that is the foundation for the Women's Union at all levels of Dong Thap province to continue to develop steadily, creating the image of a dynamic Union cadre, close to the people, closely following each hamlet, each group, each member. In the new period, the Women's Union at all levels of Dong Thap province will continue to be a trustworthy socio- political organization, where women from rural to urban areas or border and coastal areas can find a common voice, trust and lasting companionship.
