Unique Y-shaped university in Hue

Located on the poetic Huong River, Hue University of Education (34 Le Loi, Hue City) is a unique architectural heritage of Vietnam.

From 1957 (when it was founded) to 1975, this was the only secondary school teacher training facility in the Central and Central Highlands regions.

With modern Vietnamese architectural style (*), the project is the work of famous architect Ngo Viet Thu (1927 - 2000, winner of the 1955 Roman Grand Prix, designer of the Independence Palace).

The highlight of the project is the two main lecture halls, designed in a Y shape. This design is not only unique in aesthetics but also optimizes space, allowing more green space to "infiltrate", making the project seem to be nestled among trees, separate from the noise and dust of the street. The lecture halls have many large windows to help with ventilation, natural light, and energy saving.

Breeze-soleil (also known as wind flower) is one of the characteristics of tropical architecture , helping to minimize direct sunlight, creating unique light and shadow effects. In this project, the breeze block wall along the corridor and the yellow wall stained with time create an interesting visual effect when the sunlight shines through. The spiral staircase is a curve that "softens" the straight, solid lines of the project and is also a favorite " virtual life " photography angle for young people.

Hue University of Education was also the main setting in the movie Blue Eyes (directed by Victor Vu).

(*): is the architecture of rationality, originating from modernism, eliminating "frivolous, frivolous" decoration, simple, strong lines, modern materials (concrete, steel, glass...), harmoniously combined with nature and climate conditions.
