The 6th International Student Film Festival - 2025 (ISMA 2025) has just opened at Van Lang University (HCMC). This is also the first year Vietnam has hosted this event.
Associate Professor - Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, Principal of Van Lang University, said the event had special significance as it took place on the occasion of the school's 30th anniversary and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design.
Nearly 100 delegates including international professors, lecturers, students, artists, filmmakers and researchers attended the opening ceremony of ISMA 2025.
The ISMA 2025 jury consists of 13 experts from many countries. Vietnam's representative is Master Phan Quan Dung, Head of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design - Van Lang University; People's Artist - Director Dao Ba Son; Journalist - Director Nguyen Thi My Dung.
ISMA 2025 brings together 121 entries from 37 universities in Korea, the US, Japan, Iran, Thailand, France, China, Vietnam and many other countries.
The jury consists of 13 experts from Korea, USA, Japan, France, China and Vietnam.
Professor Jianhua Yang, President of ISMA, said that this year's festival has the theme "Environment - Rivers and People", provoking academic dialogue around the relationship between technology, people and living space in the context of globalization. Three key activities taking place within the framework of the event include: a media art competition, a 72-hour program and an academic forum.
"Artificial intelligence (AI) is developing so fast, affecting many aspects of society. In the media art competition, diverse works will act as a bridge - connecting human emotions, ecological awareness and visions of tomorrow's cities. We hope that young people around the world will express that through lenses, technology and imagination" - Professor Jianhua Yang emphasized.
In 2025, Van Lang University will be the first educational institution in Vietnam to be included in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 in the two fields of Art & Design and Performing Arts, with a ranking in the global top 51-100 for performing arts and top 101-150 for design.
