Representatives of mass organizations visited Vietnamese Heroic Mother Duong Thi Nang, Ba Xuyen ward. |
In late July, we visited Vietnamese Heroic Mother Duong Thi Nang, who is 99 years old this year (in Ba Xuyen ward), the mother of two martyrs Vu Van Hung (died in 1970) and Vu Van Cuong (died in 1972). Understanding the pain and great loss of the Mother, the local Party Committee, government, organizations and unions always pay special attention to the Mother and her family, considering it a responsibility, demonstrating the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source".
Mr. Vu Van Vinh, son of Mother Duong Thi Nang, shared: Over the years, in addition to the policies of the Party and the State, the family has always received responsible attention from the local Party Committee and government. That is a great source of encouragement for the family to ease the loss, a source of encouragement for the mother to continue to live happily and healthily with her children and grandchildren.
As for Mr. Hoang Trong Tan, a war invalid (in Phan Dinh Phung ward), who came out of the war, he was given the opportunity to study at the Postal College and worked at the Thai Nguyen Provincial Post Office until his retirement. He was moved by the care and sharing for those with meritorious services: Today, the country has developed properly and is more beautiful - that is also the condition for families with meritorious services to be better cared for, helping us always feel warm.
President Ho Chi Minh once emphasized: “Our people and our Party are eternally grateful to Vietnamese mothers who gave birth to and dedicated their excellent children…”. The consistent viewpoint of the Party and State is: People who have contributed to the revolution are the nation’s precious assets, the sacred symbol of patriotism and Vietnamese morality. The work of “Repaying gratitude”, “When drinking water, remember its source” is not only a major policy but also a command from the heart, a political and moral responsibility of the entire political system and the whole society.
Over the years, the Party and the State have issued many preferential policies for people with meritorious services; the scope of beneficiaries has been increasingly expanded, and preferential policies have been constantly improved. To date, more than 9.2 million people with meritorious services have benefited from the policy.
The material and spiritual life of the meritorious people and their relatives has been increasingly improved. Together with the Party and the State, the entire political system and the whole society have actively joined hands to express gratitude through practical actions, spreading deep sentiments and morality.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the Central Working Delegation pay tribute to meritorious people in Thai Nguyen province on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day. |
For Thai Nguyen, proud to be the birthplace of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947) and in the two resistance wars as well as in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, the province has contributed many human and material resources to the cause of national liberation.
The province is managing records and implementing preferential policies for 154,144 people with revolutionary contributions, accounting for about 8.5% of the province's population; paying monthly preferential subsidies to over 21,000 people, with a total budget of over 860 billion VND/year. There are 82 memorial works and martyr cemeteries in the area.
Over the years, Thai Nguyen province has always paid attention to implementing preferential policies for people with meritorious services and their relatives. Every year, on holidays and Tet, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee organize delegations to visit cemeteries and memorials for martyrs inside and outside the province; visit and give gifts to wounded soldiers and families of martyrs.
100% of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers who are still alive are well cared for and looked after. Most policy households have a standard of living equal to or higher than the average in their place of residence.
The work of mobilizing support for the "Repaying gratitude" fund has become a tradition and movement with the active participation of cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers of agencies, units and all people.
The province pays attention to the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, especially housing support for people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs. In Thai Nguyen province (new), there are a total of 6,953 households eligible for support to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, including 371 households with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs.
Thai Nguyen province (old) has completed the target of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for 1,974 households, with a total budget of nearly 200 billion VND from June 2025 (including 136 households of people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs). After merging with Bac Kan province, there are currently 235 households eligible for housing support for people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs. Currently, 100% of these households have received financial support and have started building houses.
To commemorate the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025), gratitude activities are being widely organized from the central to local levels: offering incense and lighting candles in gratitude at martyrs' cemeteries; launching a youth movement to care for war invalids and martyrs' families; renovating works honoring martyrs; mobilizing the Gratitude Fund; visiting and giving gifts at localities and nursing centers for people with meritorious services...
All of these activities have been spreading strongly throughout society, demonstrating the responsibility and deep gratitude of today's generation towards those who sacrificed and contributed to the independence and freedom of the nation.
