Groundbreaking ceremony of My An - Cao Lanh Expressway project phase 1

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Tran Van Thi, Director of My Thuan Project Management Board, informed that the My An - Cao Lanh Expressway Construction Investment Project is part of the North - South Expressway system in the West. When the project is completed and put into operation, together with the Cao Lanh - Lo Te route and the Lo Te - Rach Soi route (being upgraded to expressway scale), it will connect from Ho Chi Minh City through Tay Ninh, Dong Thap and An Giang , shortening travel time and reducing pressure on the North - South Expressway in the East, National Highway 1, National Highway 30, National Highway 80 and neighboring routes.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Tran Tri Quang, Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, said that the My An - Cao Lanh Expressway belongs to the Socio -Economic Recovery and Development Program. This is an important route in the traffic network of Dong Thap province in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general, forming an inter-regional strategic traffic infrastructure, serving the socio -economic development, security and defense goals of the whole region.

At the same time, it contributes significantly to the implementation of the goal of developing a synchronous and modern transport infrastructure according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress "Building a synchronous and modern infrastructure system; prioritizing the development of a number of national key transport projects" and the 10-year socio-economic development strategy for the period 2021 - 2030, by 2025, 3,000km of expressways must be completed and by 2030, 5,000km of expressways must be completed.

The Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee requested relevant provincial departments, branches and localities where the project passes through, together with all people in the project area, to create the most favorable conditions for the investor and the construction contractor; closely coordinate with the project investor, design consultants, supervision consultants, and construction contractors to implement the project to ensure labor safety, quality, and progress, and put the project into effective operation.

Also at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Pham Minh Ha requested the People's Committee of Dong Thap province to continue to pay attention to and direct the site clearance work, complete and hand over the entire cleared site for the project in the third quarter of 2025. At the same time, support the quick settlement of procedures related to material mines and dumping sites for the project; ensure security, order, and organize convenient and safe traffic for people during the project implementation.

The Deputy Minister of Construction requested the My Thuan Project Management Board to organize, manage the quality, progress, and investment capital throughout the project implementation process, ensuring strict compliance with the law; construction contractors, supervision consultants, and construction design consultants must ensure compliance with technical standards, mobilize modern machinery and equipment systems, and experienced human resources to implement the project to ensure progress and quality; promptly meet the expectations of the majority of people.

The My An - Cao Lanh Expressway construction investment project, with a length of 26.6 km, phase 1 is invested in a 4-lane scale, with a total investment of 6,128 billion VND, using 188 million USD of ODA loan from the Korean Government through the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) and counterpart capital from the Vietnamese Government.

Implementation period: 3 years (2025 - 2028). The starting point of the project connects to National Highway N2 in Doc Binh Kieu commune, the end point connects at An Binh intersection (Cao Lanh bridgehead), in My Tra ward, Dong Thap province. The My An - Cao Lanh expressway construction investment project is invested by My Thuan Project Management Board - Ministry of Construction.
