Unique quintessence of Hanoi's craft villages at the National Achievements Exhibition

With the theme “Tradition and Creativity”, the space of Hanoi’s craft villages in the National Achievements Exhibition at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (Dong Anh Commune, Hanoi) has brought about its own attraction and impression. Dozens of artisans from the capital were present, directly performing the craft village techniques, showing off the quintessence of the “land of a hundred crafts”.

Hundreds of professions converge

Hanoi is considered the "land of hundreds of crafts" with more than 1,300 traditional craft villages. Many craft village products have established their own brands in the domestic and international markets. Many handicraft products from craft villages have become unique gifts that anyone who comes to the capital wants to buy. At the National Achievements Exhibition, in the Handicraft display space with the theme "Redness of Hanoi", Hanoi city introduced hundreds of typical craft village products such as: Bat Trang pottery, Thiet Ung handicrafts, Chuong village hats, Thuy Ung horn combs, Phu Vinh bamboo and rattan weaving...

The Chuong Village conical hat display booth of artisan Ta Thu Huong at the Hanoi Traditional and Creative Space 2025 in the National Achievements Exhibition was bustling with visitors. Ms. Huong said that since August 28, when the exhibition opened, the number of people and tourists visiting Hanoi's space has been very large, her booth has been constantly receiving visitors. The Chuong Village conical hat product lines brought to this exhibition include about 30 conical hat designs, including handmade conical hats painted with lotus flowers and motifs made specifically for the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2, which are popular with many people.

In particular, conical hats painted with the red flag and yellow star are the most popular choice among tourists. During this year's holiday, Ms. Huong's facility made over 10,000 conical hats with the red flag and yellow star to sell to the market. In addition, Ms. Huong also displayed many large-sized conical hats to facilitate people to check-in and take photos.

“Chuong village hats have been famous for hundreds of years, we hope that through this exhibition we can further spread the quintessence of Hanoi's traditional hat making craft. Nowadays, Chuong village hats have constantly innovated in design to keep up with the trends and needs of the public, especially the young.”

Near Ms. Huong's booth is the booth displaying Thuy Ung horn combs by artisan Nguyen Van Su. To prepare for the exhibition, Mr. Su and his family spent many days preparing and arranging them neatly and attractively. In addition to horn combs, artisan Nguyen Van Su's booth also introduced many horn-made health care products such as beauty tools, massage tools, etc.

“The products are completely handmade. For many years, Thuy Ung craft village has continuously changed the designs and researched many essential items for production. Currently, in addition to making traditional horn combs, we also make more than 40 other product models, which are very popular with domestic and foreign tourists,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Su.

At his family's booth, in addition to introducing products, artisan Nguyen Van Su also directly performs craft techniques to further introduce the quintessence of his craft village.

In the space introducing Hanoi craft villages, the area introducing wood carving products of Thiet Ung craft village is also a highlight attracting tourists. The exquisitely carved wooden statues show the ingenuity of the craftsmen. The two exhibition booths of the excellent artisan Do Van Cuong have their own attraction to the public not only because of the talent of the artisans but also because of the hidden stories behind the exquisite wooden statues.

“We bring the most unique products of artisans and skilled workers. At the craft demonstration area, we send highly skilled artisans to spread the traditional values ​​of the craft village,” Mr. Cuong expressed.

Unique Hanoi handicrafts

At the "Hanoi 2025 Tradition and Creativity" Space within the framework of the Socio -Economic Achievements Exhibition on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) with the theme "80 years of the Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness", the public can admire many unique craft village products.

For example, the “Scarlett Touches of Hanoi” area is a space to honor the values ​​of traditional handicrafts, which have been cultivated through the ups and downs of the history of building and defending the country. Here, the public will be able to admire exquisite handicrafts such as the hand-carved wood carving “Vinh quy bai to” by artisan Bui Trong Quan, recognized as a Vietnamese Record; exquisite ceramic products of many large sizes, demonstrating the quintessence of the artisans of the craft village.

In this space, besides admiring the outstanding achievements of the craft villages, visitors can also see typical cultural symbols of Thang Long - Hanoi such as: One Pillar Pagoda, Khue Van Cac, which both create a visual impression and remind us of the historical roots and cultural depth, contributing to highlighting the spiritual value of handicraft products.

As a tourist visiting the exhibition space of Hanoi city, Mr. Bui Trong Han ( Hai Phong ) shared that he was very impressed with the products of Hanoi craft villages. "I am very impressed with the handicraft products made by hand, showing the ingenuity, meticulousness and quintessence preserved for many generations", Mr. Han expressed.

In the space introducing Hanoi’s craft villages, there is also a craft village performance area called “The Quintessence of Craft Streets”, which is a meeting place for talented artisans - the “peacetime soldiers” who silently protect and pass on the flame of traditional crafts. Here, visitors can listen to the ups and downs of the craft, feel the intense love for the craft and the burning desire to preserve the quintessence of the craft soul left by their ancestors.

The space is also an intersection between tangible and intangible heritage, between artisans' hands and the flow of trade and tourism, contributing to positioning Hanoi as a creative destination and leading cultural tourism center of the region and the world.

It can be seen that the space "Tradition and Creativity Hanoi 2025" (opposite to Hall H1 of the Vietnam Exhibition Center) is one of the impressive highlights at the National Achievements Exhibition "80 Years of Independence - Freedom - Happiness Journey". This is not only an opportunity to honor the thousand-year cultural journey of the Capital, but also affirms the harmonious blend between tradition and innovation, between heritage and creativity. The event contributes to affirming the position of Hanoi - the heart of the whole country - reaching out in the new era, accompanying the strong transformation of the nation.

Activities in the space will continue until September 5, 2025 at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (VEC), Km5+890 Truong Sa Street - Dong Anh - Hanoi.
