After the controversy about being refused to return to school, HGB (18 years old, former student of Cao Ba Quat High School) officially enrolled in Nursing at Dak Lak Medical College on August 23.

This decision not only opens up a new future for him but is also a testament to the timely intervention of the press and leaders at all levels in Dak Lak .

HGB shared that the choice to study locally was to reduce the financial burden on her family. She expressed her deep gratitude to the press agencies that accompanied and promptly reported the incident, as well as the direction of the Dak Lak provincial leaders, which helped her have the opportunity to return to school, take the high school graduation exam and continue her education.

Previously, the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province established a verification team at Cao Ba Quat High School after the press reported that some 12th grade students of this school, including HGB, had submitted applications to reserve their study results following the advice of the principal and homeroom teacher.

Notably, when the children wanted to return to school, the school refused.

Verification results show that in the 2024-2025 school year, Cao Ba Quat High School has a total of 16 grade 12 students who have requested to leave school, of which 7 students have been absent since April (5 students have submitted requests to reserve their place).

In HGB's case, on April 16, after talking with the principal and homeroom teacher, he received advice that "through the mid-term test, he got 4.8 points in math and many subject teachers reported that he was weak, so he wouldn't pass the test."

HGB and his family once complained to reporters about asking the school to let them return to study but were refused (Photo: Uy Nguyen).

HGB then wrote a leave application and was approved by the teacher. However, just one day later, the family asked for her to return to school but the school refused. It was only when the incident was widely reported in the press that Cao Ba Quat High School invited HGB and several other students back to school.

The Dak Lak Department of Education and Training concluded that the teacher's advice to the student to write a request to reserve his/her study results was not in accordance with regulations. At the same time, the reservation request was also confirmed by the homeroom teacher and principal, which also violated regulations.

Responsibility in this incident is determined to belong to the homeroom teacher and school principal.
