Many talented faces are considered "precious gems" of An Giang's high-performance sports, such as: Nguyen Thi That, Lam Thi Kim Ngan (cycling), Pham Dinh Thi, Tran Minh Tri (weightlifting), Le Tran Kim Uyen (taekwondo), Vo Thi Kim Anh (boxing), Vang Thi Ngoc My, Huynh Kim Tien (karate), Pham Van Nghia, Le Thi Cam Tu, Danh Thi Thuy (athletics), Nguyen Thi Kim Cuong, Tran Thi Cam Tu (fitness), Vu Thi Dieu Uyen, Vu Hoang Gia Bao, Lu Chan Hung, Bao Khoa (chess) ... These athletes are expected to be the core for the province's high-performance sports in the future. This proves that the province's policy of focusing on investment in key sports is on the right track.
Currently, the athletes are actively practicing and competing in friendly matches, accumulating experience to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand later this year. Athlete Nguyen Thi That shared: “I am working hard to improve my performance, determined to achieve high results in tournaments, especially the 33rd SEA Games”. Chess player Bao Khoa also expressed his determination: “I am actively practicing and competing to best prepare for the goal of changing the color of the medal at the upcoming SEA Games”.
In the coming time, An Giang will continue to promote propaganda to raise awareness of the role of sports, develop diverse forms of training and competition at the grassroots level, and at the same time socialize diverse investment resources in facilities and human resources. Organizing many sports tournaments is also focused on to meet the health training needs of the people. The province will continue to invest in key sports and select and train talented and promising athletes.
The province will regularly review, screen and classify athletes to build a deep force, aiming at major domestic, regional and international tournaments such as SEA Games, Asiad, Olympics. At the same time, it will create favorable conditions for athletes to train, compete in friendly matches, and learn from experience to enhance the position of An Giang sports on the national and international sports map. In particular, the province will prepare the best force to participate in the 10th Mekong Delta Sports Festival in 2025 and the 10th National Sports Festival in 2026.
