In particular, road and sea transport, trade and services, electricity supply, and communications to serve the needs of people's daily life, study, production and business have been expanded, creating favorable conditions and driving forces for the socio -economic development of the district. In the era of national development, Phu Quy is currently continuing to promote internal resources and mobilize external resources to build Phu Quy Special Zone to be worthy of being a center of fast and sustainable marine economy, contributing to building Phu Quy into a type IV urban area by 2025. This is the goal set out in the Party Resolution of Phu Quy Special Zone for the 2020-2025 term.

Taking advantage of the sea

In addition to the advantage of developing the marine economy, Phu Quy Special Zone is also endowed by nature with a wild landscape with beautiful beaches, many famous scenic spots with 3 national relics and 8 provincial relics. This is an advantage for Phu Quy to both develop the marine economy and develop green tourism . In addition to fishing, with the advantage of deep, clean sea, in recent times Phu Quy Special Zone has focused on developing sustainable aquaculture. Up to now, in the Special Zone there are 72 aquaculture facilities, with an area of 14,484.9 m ² , of which 61 households raise cages with a farming area of 9,301 m ² , 11 dams with a farming area of 5,183.9 m ^2. The main seafood are grouper, cobia, lobster... the average annual farming yield is about 100 tons. In addition, Phu Quy Special Zone also has dozens of facilities for purchasing, processing and exporting seafood. The current capacity of Phu Quy Special Zone's vessels is 1,735/7,540 workers, of which 594 vessels have a capacity of over 90CV, including 130 vessels for purchasing and processing seafood services. The average annual output of fresh seafood of all kinds reaches over 32 thousand tons, with over 36 thousand tons in 2024 alone. With many advantages in fishing, farming, purchasing and processing seafood, the Prime Minister has approved the Project to build Phu Quy Special Zone into a Center for exploitation, logistics services for fisheries, combined with search and rescue at sea. Especially the peaceful coastal fishing villages on the island bring visitors beautiful photos, recreating and immersing themselves in the warm, genuine atmosphere of the fishermen. With great potential for tourism development, the Party Committee, government and people of Phu Quy Special Zone have focused on developing tourism, along with developing other services. With the motto that the Party Committee, government and people of Phu Quy Special Zone must together identify tourism as a comprehensive economic sector with profound cultural content, prioritizing the development of sustainable and safe tourism, associated with environmental protection and preserving and promoting the cultural identity, national traditions and people of Phu Quy.

Building a strong special economic zone in all aspects

In recent times, the Central and local governments have always paid attention to Phu Quy Special Zone - a frontier land with a very important strategic position in terms of national defense and security of the province. Currently, implementing the Party and State's policy on the arrangement of administrative units and building a 2-level local government model, Phu Quy is organized into a Special Zone on the basis of merging the current 3 commune-level administrative units. Therefore, the role, functions and tasks of the Party Committee and the Special Zone's government will be innovated. Accordingly, the strategic role and position in terms of national defense and security and the main tasks of building and developing Phu Quy are still maintained, inherited and continued.
