Da Nang: Temporarily detained 700kg of dried squid showing signs of damage and odor

DNVN - On June 9, the Da Nang Market Management Department said that after receiving reports from people, Market Management Team No. 4 discovered and temporarily seized 700kg of dried squid showing signs of damage and odor on the sidewalk of Chu Huy Man Street, Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District.

On the sidewalk in front of house number 137 Chu Huy Man, Market Management Team No. 4 ( Da Nang Market Management Department) discovered a shipment of abandoned food, including 50 bags (each bag weighs about 10 - 15kg), totaling about 700kg. Inside were dried squid and dried squid heads, showing signs of mold, discoloration and emitting an unusual foul odor.

The entire shipment was unattended and had no documents proving its origin. The inspection team made a record, temporarily detained the shipment to serve the investigation, verify the owner and handle it in accordance with the law on food safety and goods in circulation on the market.

Ms. Tran Thi My Huong - Deputy Captain of Market Management Team No. 4 said that the authorities recommend that people promptly report similar cases when they discover them, to ensure public health and prevent poor quality food from flooding the market.

Market Management Team No. 2 temporarily seized nearly 300 units of smuggled functional foods, milk, and cosmetics at a business establishment in Hai Chau district.

Also related to ensuring food safety and consumer health, the Da Nang Market Management Department said that Market Management Team No. 2 had just inspected a business location in Hai Chau district, discovered and temporarily detained 287 units of products including functional foods, milk, and cosmetics manufactured abroad without accompanying invoices and documents proving the legality of the goods.

The total value of the exhibits was determined according to the listed price of 78,890,000 VND. Market Management Team No. 2 reported to the Da Nang Market Management Department to submit to the Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee a decision to fine the above business location 70 million VND for the administrative violation of "Trading in smuggled goods".
