3 red cards in one match at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ On the morning of June 17, Benfica struggled to a 2-2 draw against Boca Juniors in Group C.
The former Manchester United star started the match but only played for 20 minutes before being substituted due to injury. This is the fourth time the Spanish midfielder has suffered a muscle injury since joining Boca in January.
After leaving the field, Herrera sat on the bench and was sent off shortly after for overreacting. While the referee reviewed Nicolas Otamendi’s penalty via VAR, Herrera launched into a harsh tirade, to the point where a security guard and a member of the coaching staff had to intervene to calm him down.

The red card means Herrera will miss Boca Juniors' next FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ group stage match against Bayern Munich on June 21.
Since joining Boca Juniors, Herrera has played 9 matches but has faced 4 injuries in the past 6 months. The severity of this injury has not been announced, but the risk of the former MU star missing the rest of the season is possible.
