Benzema's historic milestone

On August 31, Karim Benzema surpassed the 500-goal mark in his career with a performance that left everyone in awe.

In Al-Ittihad's 5-2 win over Al-Okhdood in the opening round of the 2025/26 Saudi Pro League, the 36-year-old star scored a perfect hat-trick, thereby reaching the milestone of 501 in his career. According to statistics from the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), Benzema is the 26th player to score at least 500 goals.

Benzema started making his mark at Lyon with 66 goals. Then came his glorious time at Real Madrid. He had 354 goals for himself during his 14 years with "Los Blancos". After moving to Saudi Arabia, Benzema added 44 goals for Al-Ittihad, along with 37 goals for the French national team.

With 501 goals, Benzema became the player with the most goals in the history of French football, far surpassing Thierry Henry (411 goals). However, Benzema needs to pay attention to Kylian Mbappe. The 26-year-old striker has 380 goals (256 goals with PSG, 50 goals for the French national team, 47 goals with Real Madrid and 27 goals with Monaco).
