On November 24, Mr. Mike Waltz - a congressman from Florida and the person chosen by President-elect Donald Trump to be the national security advisor in the upcoming administration - outlined the new administration's strategy to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which will begin promoting negotiations on the first day of his term on January 20, 2025.

Speaking on Fox News, Mr. Waltz stressed that the main priority would be to organize talks between Russia and Ukraine, with the aim of bringing both sides together to negotiate a ceasefire or peace agreement.

“We need to discuss who will be at this table, whether it will be a deal or a ceasefire, how to bring both sides to the table and then the scope of the deal,” he said.

Mr Waltz also stressed the importance of involving US allies in Europe in the process. “All of our allies and partners need to share this burden,” he said, stressing that resolving the conflict would require international cooperation.

The politician noted that recent decisions, such as US President Joe Biden's "green light" for Ukraine to use missiles provided by Washington to strike deep into Russian territory, have led to more intense fighting.

Mr. Waltz believes the incoming Trump administration will act quickly to end the conflict.

Donald Trump once promised that if elected US president, he could end the Russia-Ukraine conflict in one day. Recently, the President-elect announced that his upcoming administration will focus on the Russia-Ukraine war.

“We’re going to work very hard on Russia and Ukraine. This has to stop. Russia and Ukraine have to stop,” President-elect Donald Trump said at the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) dinner in Mar-a-Lago, Florida on November 14.

On November 14, Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Gennady Gatilov, said Moscow was ready to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine if Trump initiated it, but any talks would need to be based on “facts on the ground” regarding the advances of Russian forces.
