Ms. H. was examined and treated at the Neurology Center, Bach Mai Hospital. The results of the MRI showed brain damage, which was due to poisoning. Tests showed that the weight loss drug contained the banned substance Sibutramine. The patient was transferred to the Poison Control Center for further treatment.

Dr. Nguyen Trung Nguyen - Director of the Poison Control Center, Bach Mai Hospital said that patients who took the weight loss product for about 10 days had very clear signs of neurological, eye, and brain damage. Prolonged use can affect their lives.

Sibutramine is a substance that has been banned for use in humans because it causes the risk of stroke, angina, and myocardial infarction.

Doctor Nguyen warns that currently there are functional foods mixed with toxic substances, banned substances, and substances that are allowed to be used but in incorrect dosages.

At the Poison Control Center, doctors recorded cases of coma, convulsions, brain damage, and emergency treatment due to banned substances mixed into functional foods.

Doctors recommend that when people are sick, they should go to medical facilities for examination and treatment, and get appropriate prescriptions. Avoid buying products of unknown origin online for use.

"With functional foods, especially those advertised as "miraculous", you need to be careful. Before buying a product, you need to carefully research its origin, find out and buy the product at reputable places to ensure your health," the Director of the Poison Control Center, Bach Mai Hospital recommends.
