On the morning of June 19, the price of SJC gold bars was listed by SJC, PNJ, DOJI , and Bao Tin Minh Chau companies at 117.6 million VND/tael for buying and 119.6 million VND/tael for selling, stable compared to yesterday.
Similarly, the price of 99.99 gold rings and jewelry gold also remained unchanged when listed by companies at around VND113.7 million/tael for buying and VND116.3 million/tael for selling.
Both SJC gold bars and gold rings have been "unmoving" in the past two days, a rather surprising development when world gold prices have been constantly fluctuating strongly.
On the international market, at 9:00 a.m. (Vietnam time), today's gold price was traded at 3,378 USD/ounce, a slight increase compared to the previous session. During the session, there was a time when the gold price fell to 3,363 USD/ounce but recovered immediately due to bottom-fishing demand.
On the night of June 18, the US Federal Reserve (FED) decided to keep interest rates unchanged at 4.25% - 4.5% as forecast by analysts. This increased pressure on gold prices, as this precious metal is often sensitive to monetary policies.
SJC gold bar and gold ring prices continue to be stable
Gold expert Tran Duy Phuong said that domestic gold prices are quiet because investors are observing the next developments following the government's directives on new gold market management policies.
In particular, the draft amendment to Decree 24 on gold market management in the direction of eliminating the monopoly mechanism of SJC gold bars; considering adding more units to participate in gold bar production if meeting enough requirements... predicts that the price of SJC gold bars will decrease.
"With the difference in gold bar price being over VND12 million/tael higher than the world price, investors are still more cautious. The world gold market is also in a sideways state, without strong fluctuations, even with the potential for downward adjustment, making the market less exciting," said Mr. Phuong.
Currently, the world gold price converted according to the listed exchange rate is about 107 million VND/tael.
