WinMart/WinMart+ Chain Reports Profit for 4th Consecutive Quarter

The WinMart/WinMart+ retail chain continues to be a bright spot in Masan's business picture. In the first half of 2025, the strategy of bringing modern retail to rural areas and successfully launching supermarkets and stores with new models has contributed positively to the revenue and profit growth of WinMart/WinMart+.

In the second quarter of 2025, WinCommerce (the parent company of the WinMart/WinMart+ retail chain) recorded revenue of VND 9,130 billion, an increase of 16.4% over the same period. Profit after tax reached VND 10 billion, marking the fourth consecutive quarter that this retail chain has made a profit. Accumulated in the first 6 months, WinCommerce's revenue reached VND 17,915 billion and profit after tax reached VND 68 billion.
This achievement reflects the effectiveness of the strategy focusing on network expansion, optimizing operating models and anticipating modern consumption trends in Vietnam.
Rural areas - new strategic growth driver
In the first half of 2025, WinCommerce opened an average of 2 new stores per day, bringing the total number of WinMart supermarkets/WinMart+ stores nationwide to more than 4,000 points of sale. Notably, nearly 75% of the newly opened stores are of the WinMart+ model in rural areas - where more than 60% of Vietnam's population lives. This is a testament to the strategic orientation of "going first - taking the lead" in the journey to bring modern retail experiences to all parts of the country.
The effectiveness of this strategy was quickly recognized: the average daily revenue of WinMart+ stores in rural areas reached nearly 90% compared to the retailer's urban stores, a sharp increase from about 80% in the second quarter of 2024. Mini-stores in rural areas recorded revenue growth of up to 12.4% compared to the same period last year, showing strong acceptance from consumers.

In particular, WinMart+ stores in the Central region emerged as a new growth driver, thanks to a product portfolio that meets consumer needs and a pioneering advantage in occupying high-traffic locations. In the first 6 months of 2025, more than 50% of newly opened stores were concentrated in the Central region, continuing to consolidate WCM's leading position in the region. In addition, all new stores opened in the first half of 2025 were profitable.

Responding to Resolution 68/NQ-CP of the Government on promoting domestic market development and stimulating consumption, WinMart has been expanding its system, accelerating digital integration, and improving user experience to bring a modern lifestyle to every Vietnamese family.
By the end of Q2/2025, with 318 net new stores opened, WCM has completed 80% of its base target for new openings for the year and is on track to exceed its high-case target by year-end, helping to firmly consolidate its position as the number one modern retailer in Vietnam by point of sale scale, with 4,146 stores nationwide.
WinCommerce retail chain aims to have at least one WinMart supermarket in each district/county; one mini supermarket in each commune/ward; and one WiN+ point of sale in each village/neighborhood. This strategy aims to fully serve the daily consumption needs of people, from stockpiling to quick shopping near home.
Retail transforms towards modernization

The retail consumer market is undergoing a shift from traditional retail (GT) to modern retail (MT). This trend is accelerating due to urbanization and rising per capita income. This shift is driven by increasingly stringent legal regulations to control counterfeit and goods of unknown origin - something that modern retail systems have an absolute advantage in. In addition, new regulations are regularizing the retail industry by controlling counterfeit, poor quality and goods of unknown origin, and tax regulations for individual businesses, contributing to creating a fairer competitive advantage for modern retailers like WinCommerce.

According to Masan 's calculations, about 30,000 individual business households were affected, leading to widespread inventory reduction and slowing sales of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). In the first 5 months of the year, FMCG output consumed through traditional trade channels decreased by nearly 3% compared to the same period.
With an increasingly complete technology platform, especially the resonance from the WiN Membership program and the largest modern retail chain in Vietnam, WinCommerce is starting a period of sustainable growth.
WCM expects to achieve net revenue of VND35,600 billion to VND36,900 billion, up 8% to 12% year-on-year, and achieve positive profit after tax for the whole year. This will be driven by the expansion of the store network, accelerating revenue growth. In the second half of 2025, WCM will focus on maintaining the current network expansion pace to achieve the target scale by the end of the year, while continuing to implement tight cost control measures to ensure full-year profitability.
