Although he is over 70 years old, Mr. Pham Ngoc Cam is still enthusiastically carrying a shovel to the road leading to the residential area of Thanh An 4 Hamlet to dig trenches and install water pipes... Mr. Cam shared: "In the past, people mainly drilled their own water pumps to get water for daily use. During the dry season, water sources were scarce, often contaminated with salt; only in the rainy season was there fresh water. Now that the State has deployed clean water supply, we are very excited. Despite my old age, I still participate in digging roads to install pipes and encourage my children and grandchildren to contribute." Ms. Vo Thi Tron also expressed: "When the government held a meeting with the people to implement this project, everyone in the family was happy and actively contributed working days."

The clean water pipeline project received the joint efforts of the people of Thanh Thoi An commune.

The project was supported by the Center for Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation of Can Tho City with 700m of pipeline and installation of water meters for 18 households. Thanh Thoi An currently has 5,581 households using hygienic water, accounting for 90.2%; of which, 4,104 households use clean water that meets the standards from the centralized water supply system, accounting for 66.2%. In some remote areas, people still lack a source of fresh water that meets the standards, so the construction of clean water pipelines is extremely necessary and urgent.

Thanh Thoi An Commune People's Committee has coordinated with the Fatherland Front and mass organizations from the commune to the hamlet to propagate and mobilize people to carry out the socialization movement in bringing clean water to the countryside. Since the beginning of the year, Thanh Thoi An has completed 2 projects; previously, the commune had laid a 1,800m pipeline to bring clean water to Thanh An 1 hamlet, with about 40 households using it.

Mr. Le Trung Tuan, Vice Chairman of Thanh Thoi An Commune People's Committee, said: "The Commune People's Committee will continue to coordinate with the Fatherland Front and commune organizations to strengthen propaganda and mobilize socialization to install clean water pipes. In September, an additional pipeline section of about 2,200m long will be deployed in Thanh Nhan 1 Hamlet, serving about 60 households."
