The contest "Following the tunnels - Discovering Ban Thach today" is organized by Ban Thach Ward Youth Union in collaboration with the Center for Living and Learning for the environment and community (Live & Learn) through the project "Green Citizen - Healthy City".
Ms. Luong Thi Nhan, Secretary of the Youth Union of Ban Thach Ward (representative of the Organizing Committee of the contest) said that the contest aims to celebrate the Congress of Party Delegates at all levels for the 2025-2030 term; celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2, and is attracting the response and participation of many students and youth union members.
With creative, lively and carefully invested entries, the contest becomes a meaningful journey back to the source, where young people express their pride in historical traditions and convey their love for their homeland.

Ms. Nhan said: “By participating in the contest, you will transform into special “reporters”, exploring Ky Anh tunnels - a historical relic of your homeland, which sheltered many people during the years of war, and listening to stories from those who lived through the war. From there, the young people will tell the story from their own perspective.”
Participating in the contest with the work "Memories underground - Ky Anh tunnel", the group of students Le Nhi, Ngoc Nhi, Ngo Nhi, Cuong Thinh (class 9/13, Nguyen Du Secondary School, Ban Thach Ward) learned about the secrets underground of their homeland to feel and retell the story through pictures.
“In this photo album, we present authentic moments and emotional stories from our journey back to our roots. We follow in the footsteps of our ancestors to preserve our roots and revive the heroic memories of the historic land of Ky Anh…”, the group of young people shared.

Mr. Huynh Kim Ta (a veteran of Ban Thach ward), who appeared in many photos and videos of students and youth union members, told the story of the tunnels. Through his stories in the clips, viewers can imagine the bravery of the local people in the resistance war against the US to save the country.
Taking "reporter" Nguyen Trinh Hoang Phuoc (grade 7/8, Ly Tu Trong Secondary School, Tam Ky Ward) and a group of students on a tour of the tunnel system inside the tunnels, Mr. Ta confided that he was very happy that the younger generation was interested in learning about history, especially learning about the tunnels of their homeland.
He said that Ky Anh tunnel was built during the years of fighting against the US, every meter of the tunnel was soaked with sweat and blood of compatriots, comrades and people. At the same time, he reminded the younger generation to always cherish and be grateful for what our ancestors sacrificed in exchange for today's peace ...
Ky Anh tunnel, an underground tunnel and also a tunnel in the hearts of the people in the old Tam Thang commune (now Ban Thach ward) was dug from May 1965 and completed in 1967 with a length of about 32km. In 1997, Ky Anh tunnel was recognized as a national historical revolutionary relic.
The contest "Following the tunnels - Discovering Ban Thach today" is for students and youth union members in communes, wards and schools in Tam Ky city (old).
Individuals/groups participating in the contest can create products in many forms such as: photo albums, videos, podcasts introducing and telling stories about Ky Anh tunnels.
The Organizing Committee has extended the submission deadline to September 10, 2025 (instead of August 31 as previously planned).
