Resolution of the 1st Congress of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Party Committee, term 2025-2030 sets the goal of striving for Lam Dong to become a fairly developed province in the country by 2030.
To achieve the goal, the province will promote its potential and advantages; mobilize and effectively use all resources for rapid, comprehensive and sustainable socio -economic development on all three "pillars": Modern industry, high-tech agriculture and high-quality tourism services, associated with sustainable ecological environment protection and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups.
Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi said that Lam Dong currently has full potential and strengths; it has borders, sea, forests and islands. With the largest natural area in the country, in that space, nature has bestowed upon Lam Dong many famous landscapes and unique, world- famous architectural works... Those advantages will open up opportunities to comprehensively restructure the regional development model; redistribute population, infrastructure, and investment resources according to new strategic directions. This creates new potentials, resources and opportunities for the province to make breakthroughs and step firmly into the new era of the nation.
The current socio-economic picture of Lam Dong province can be visualized: The western region is the aluminum-aluminum industry, with potential for renewable energy development, specialized industrial crop growing areas meeting export standards, developing forest economy and eco-tourism, forming new dynamic economic-industrial zones...
The eastern region has a 192 km long coastline and a seaport system, with potential for developing marine economy and marine tourism; is a major wind and solar power center of the country, creating conditions to attract green industry, forming industrial parks, high-tech ecological urban areas associated with processing industry, logistics and energy.
The central political-administrative area of Lam Dong is the “capital” of high-tech agriculture, tourism-services, cultural industry, etc. Lam Dong is home to 49 ethnic groups, with diverse and unique cultures. Cultural forms and products, especially indigenous culture of the Central Highlands, Cham culture, and folk festivals are preserved and promoted.
In the period of 2021-2025, the province welcomed more than 78 million visitors, including more than 3.2 million international visitors. Many national and international cultural and tourism events were successfully organized, such as the Da Lat Flower Festival, the 2023 national tourism year "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence", contributing to promoting typical tourism brands of each region, such as "Da Lat - Miraculous crystallization from the good land"; "Binh Thuan - blue sea, white sand, golden sunshine"; tourism associated with Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark. "With the connection and support of tourism products from the blue sea, the great forest and thousands of flowers, Lam Dong promises to become a "paradise" of tourism and resorts for the whole country and the world", Director of Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Loc expressed his confidence.
Lam Dong province currently has more than 107 thousand hectares of high-tech agricultural production and more than 149.7 thousand hectares of safe production. In recent times, the Party Committee of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has led and directed the Provincial People's Committee to mobilize resources, focus on removing difficulties, speed up investment progress of key traffic infrastructure projects, such as putting into operation the eastern North-South expressway, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet-Dau Giay section; starting construction of Bao Loc-Lien Khuong expressway, Gia Nghia-Chon Thanh expressway; completing procedures to prepare for the groundbreaking of Tan Phu-Bao Loc expressway...
The outstanding results in all fields during the past term are clear evidence of the proactiveness, flexibility and creativity in the leadership and direction of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee and the consensus and determination of the entire Party Committee. In particular, the average GRDP growth rate in the 2021-2025 period of Lam Dong reached more than 6.4%, the average GRDP per capita reached 106 million VND/year... This is a solid foundation opening up new opportunities for the province in the next period.
Comrade Ho Van Muoi said that in the new period, the province determined to continue promoting its potential and advantages; mobilize and effectively use all resources to develop the economy and society quickly, comprehensively and sustainably on all three "pillars", including modern industry, high-tech agriculture and high-quality tourism services, associated with protecting the sustainable ecological environment and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups; striving by 2030, Lam Dong will become a fairly developed province with an income above the national average.
According to many experts, in the current context of regional development, organizing economic space linking localities is a prerequisite for effectively exploiting potential and advantages. Chairman of the Vietnam Urban Development Planning Association Tran Ngoc Chinh said that after the merger, Lam Dong has a large territory, rich natural conditions, and reorganizing economic space associated with the development of inter-regional urban systems will contribute to building a new economic driving force in the southern Central Highlands and the South Central Coast of the region and the whole country. However, it is necessary to have a close, scientific regional planning strategy, along with flexible and appropriate support mechanisms for transformation.
Dr. Hoang Huu Phe, Institute for Sustainable Development Research, said that Lam Dong needs a scientific master plan, long-term vision, high political determination, effective coordination mechanism and strong enough investment resources to solve "bottlenecks" and exploit "new opportunities", with the advantage of connecting from the border with Cambodia to the East Sea.
With a “multi-regional, multi-color, multi-potential” structure, Lam Dong province has the opportunity to become a model of sustainable development on three “pillars”: Modern industry, high-tech agriculture and high-quality services and tourism of the region and the whole country.
