Unmanned operation of 110kV substation is one of the typical products of the EVN-level science and technology project in 2024 chaired by the Central Power Information Technology Company (CPCIT), approved by EVN in Decision 929/QD-EVN dated September 15, 2024.

CPCIT has coordinated with DNPC to organize training sessions on usage and application installation to prepare for field deployment.

CPCIT cooperated with PC Da Nang to organize training sessions on installation and use of 110kV substation operation application to prepare for field deployment.

This project aims to build a digital application platform operating on smart mobile devices (smartphones, tablets...) to serve the monitoring, control and remote operation support of unmanned 110kV substations.

As one of the leading units of the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) in applying digital transformation and having experience in operating unmanned substation systems, PC Da Nang has been selected as the official testing unit of CPCIT's products on unmanned operation applications at 110kV substations in the city.

Previously, in July and August 2025, CPCIT coordinated with PC Da Nang to organize user training sessions, application installation and technical staff training to prepare for field deployment. All participating staff were assigned specific tasks and provided with detailed instructions.

The unmanned substation operation application is designed to be modern, user-friendly, and capable of responding to many real-life situations that arise during operation. Some outstanding features include: Monitoring the station connection status - allowing monitoring of communication status, SCADA device operating status, and information signals between the control center and the substation.

Users can view measurement data, device status, abnormal signals or fault warnings; provide early warnings with prominent colors and sounds to help technical staff handle quickly when there is a problem or signal exceeds the threshold.

The application also integrates situation handling instructions, technical operations and business processes to support engineers on site; allows login by fingerprint or facial recognition; helps ensure information security, especially in the power industry environment. The convenience is that the application is cross-platform compatible, operating on both Android and iOS operating systems.

During the testing period, technical staff installed and used the application in many real-life situations at the 110kV substation. Operations such as monitoring station status, looking up documents, receiving warnings and recording signals were all easily performed on mobile devices.

This is one of the “Make by EVN” products with strategic significance, contributing to mastering technology in the energy sector. Successful implementation will optimize human resources, improve accuracy and speed of information processing in station operations, increase transparency and the ability to digitize the entire technical and operational process. In the long term, the product also opens up the possibility of integration with AI systems to forecast equipment status, detect risks early and suggest smart maintenance.

“Coordinating with CPCIT to pilot the unmanned operation of 110kV substations is a concrete and necessary step to increase the effectiveness of remote management, shorten incident handling time, reduce direct human resources at the scene, and at the same time create a platform for applying artificial intelligence (AI) and big data in the near future,” emphasized PC Da Nang Director Le Hong Cuong.
