National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man meets voters in Can Tho City

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the afternoon of July 1, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with voters of Vi Thuy commune, Can Tho city. Attending were Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Do Thanh Binh; Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council Dong Van Thanh; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation Nguyen Tuan Anh.

This is the first voter meeting right after the announcement ceremony of the Resolution of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of administrative units at the provincial and communal levels; the Central Government's Decision on the establishment of the Party Committee and the city's leadership personnel; the decisions of the Can Tho City Party Committee on the organization of the apparatus and personnel work. This content was also of interest to the majority of voters at the meeting.

At the conference, delegate Le Thi Thanh Lam, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho City, said that the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly took place right after the great success of the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee to review and decide on many important and historical contents, closely linked to the requirements of innovation, institutional improvement, and organizational arrangement of the political system for rapid and sustainable national development.

After 35 working days, with a spirit of innovation, responsibility and high determination, on the basis of urgent and thorough preparation and scientific and effective program arrangement, the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly has completed all the contents of the proposed program.

The National Assembly considered and approved the Resolution amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; approved 34 laws and 13 legal resolutions, gave opinions on 6 other draft laws; considered and decided on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units, shortening the term of the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term, deciding on the election date of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, establishing the National Election Council; considered and decided on organizational and personnel work within its authority.

In addition, the National Assembly considered and decided on socio-economic, financial, state budget issues, investment policies for important projects; conducted questions and answers; considered reports on synthesizing voters' and people's petitions, reported on the results of monitoring the settlement of voters' petitions, and a number of other important issues.

Sharing the opinions of voters in Can Tho City, the National Assembly Chairman said that officials and civil servants in Can Tho City are much more convenient than in other localities because the geographical distance is closer, and there are shuttle buses during the day. Encouraging officials, civil servants, and public employees and discussing with voters about the country's major policy in merging provinces and cities, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized that this is a major policy, of historical significance with the purpose of streamlining the apparatus to operate effectively, efficiently, effectively, close to the people, quickly resolving administrative procedures for people and businesses; at the same time helping to streamline the administrative apparatus.

The National Assembly Chairman suggested that Can Tho City and Vi Thuy Commune need to strengthen propaganda and information work on the issue of merging at the provincial and communal levels so that people understand the purpose and requirements.

Along with that, complete the trial operation, organize assessment, review, and learn from the difficulties and obstacles in operating the apparatus today to do better tomorrow, creating convenience for people and businesses in the Public Administration Center of Vi Thuy commune and the whole city.

According to the National Assembly Chairman, Can Tho City needs to assign cadres to work closely with the locality, promote the building of the political system, Party building, government building, and the Mass Front. Because by merging this apparatus, our political system must be stronger than before; ensuring the implementation of the work of organizing the Party Congress at the commune level, towards the Party Congress at the city level, the National Party Congress as well as the election of the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

The National Assembly Chairman also noted that Can Tho City needs to promote its strengths and support each other to promote socio-economic development; improve the material and spiritual life of the people.

* On the same day, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man inspected the actual situation of administrative procedure settlement serving people and businesses at the Public Administration Service Center of Vi Thuy commune, Can Tho city.

Vi Thuy Commune, Can Tho City was established on the basis of arranging the entire natural area and population size of Nang Mau town, Vi Thang commune and Vi Trung commune.

Reporting to the National Assembly Chairman, Deputy Director of Vi Thuy Commune Public Administration Service Center Nguyen Van Kinh said that the first day of official operation of the 2-level local government model went smoothly. People coming to do administrative procedures at the Center were all very excited, supportive and confident that the new local government would be closer to the people and serve the people better.

The Center currently serves to resolve administrative procedures in 4 areas with 5 main contents under the authority of the commune level; in the land sector alone, officers of the Land Management Office are directly present at the Center to support people in completing procedures.

Through a field survey at the Center, the National Assembly Chairman said that the Center has very favorable conditions based on inheriting the physical facilities of Vi Thuy district (Hau Giang province) before.

The National Assembly Chairman requested the leaders of Can Tho City, Vi Thuy Commune and Vi Thuy Commune Public Administration Service Center to make efforts to ensure the conditions for connecting and connecting administrative procedures from the Central to the city and commune; ensuring both human and material resources so that all administrative procedures can be carried out smoothly.

Along with that, the National Assembly Chairman suggested continuing to train commune-level officials and officials of the Commune-level Public Administration Service Center to regularly and continuously update administrative procedures, ensure time, and if there are procedures that can be shortened, try to shorten them as much as possible to create the most convenience for people, especially in procedures for household registration, land, business, etc.
