OpenAI's popular AI chatbot ChatGPT has experienced a widespread outage, affecting users globally.
Reports of service disruptions began at around 7am GMT, or around 2pm on June 10 (Vietnam time) and quickly spread, affecting thousands of users from countries including the US, UK, India and Vietnam who had difficulty accessing the platform.
According to outage tracking website Down Detector, more than 600 complaints had been filed in India by 3 p.m. local time, while the UK and US recorded more than 1,000 complaints and nearly 500 reports respectively, suggesting widespread outages for ChatGPT.
Users attempting to interact with ChatGPT received error messages such as “A network error occurred. Please check your connection and try again. If this problem persists, please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com.”
The outage also affected other OpenAI services, including Sora — the company's text-to -video creation tool — as well as other AI APIs.
OpenAI acknowledged the issue on the company’s official status page, stating: “Some users are experiencing errors and high latency across services. We are investigating.” The company noted that the issue lasted for about two hours.
This is not the first time ChatGPT has encountered problems. The tool was interrupted in early April 2025 due to a sudden increase in demand for the Ghibli image creation feature, overloading the system and causing problems./.
