Attending the scholarship award ceremony, many teachers and program members could not hide their emotions when hearing Thuy Yen's story. She is a diligent student with many outstanding achievements such as: Excellent student for many consecutive years, Bronze medal in Provincial History Olympiad, Third prize in Provincial Excellent Student in History.
However, right before the high school graduation exam, Yen is facing a cruel choice: continue studying or keep her results, work for a while to make ends meet before daring to think about university.
The "Wings of Dreams" scholarship award ceremony took place at Dong Xoai High School, with the participation of representatives of Dong Xoai city government, sponsors, staff, teachers and 12th grade students.
The main sponsor VNPT Binh Phuoc awarded a scholarship of 15 million VND with the wish that Thuy Yen would achieve high results in the upcoming graduation exam.
Ms. Trinh Thi Tam, Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education and Talents and editor Thu Hien (BPTV) jointly presented a sponsorship fund of 30 million VND to Phan Thi Thuy Yen.
Staff, teachers and students of Dong Xoai High School actively campaigned to award Thuy Yen a scholarship worth 30 million VND.
Also because of the difficult circumstances surrounding him, since 3 years ago, Yen's father has had hip osteoarthritis, making it difficult for him to move around, and can only sell 30-50 lottery tickets a day around the neighborhood. Her mother is also sick but has to work as a construction worker, sometimes with work, sometimes without, with an unstable income. Yen also has an older brother who, due to poverty, had to drop out of college and is looking for a job; the second brother has just joined the army and the younger brother is about to enter 10th grade.
Not letting the green shoots of knowledge be alone on their journey to school, sponsors, philanthropists, teams, and volunteer groups stepped onto the stage together, personally presenting Yen with scholarships, totaling 149 million VND. The entire amount was saved by the program to help her spend throughout her future studies. “I am so happy that the program has come to me. The love and these generous scholarships will motivate me to do well in my exams. My dream of teaching History has not been left behind,” Thuy Yen emotionally expressed.
The success of the 119th scholarship award ceremony is also a special milestone: 10 years of the journey of helping dreams fly by BPTV, with a total support amount of more than 14 billion VND. "VNPT is proud to be the main sponsor, an indispensable part of "Helping Dreams Fly" over the past 10 years. Each journey is full of emotions, the scholarships of love have timely given the young birds enough strength, spread their wings to fly through stormy, poor areas... to reach the sky of knowledge, lighting up the future" - Mr. Vu Duc Quang, Sales Director of VNPT Dong Xoai city expressed.
Philanthropists, teams, and volunteer groups awarded the "Wings of Dreams" scholarship to Phan Thi Thuy Yen.
From the hands of the giver to the tearful eyes of the recipient - not only a scholarship, but also a great source of motivation to help Thuy Yen strive harder on the path to conquering knowledge.
"Wings of Dreams" always respectfully expresses gratitude and deep thanks to every kind heart that has always believed in and supported the program throughout its 10 years on air.
The happiness multiplied on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21) this year is that the power of BPTV can become a bridge to send love in the community, joining hands to rewrite a bright future for many lives with kind things.
On the new journey, when Binh Phuoc province will merge with Dong Nai province to become a new province called Dong Nai province, "Wings of Dreams" will also have a transformation to continue implementing the program with a new look, new resources, and a larger scale. Because dreams have no end and the spreading effect of love will never stop.
