Binh Duong: Strengthening the protection, preservation and promotion of the value of national treasures

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong province has just issued report No. 144/BC-SVHTTDL on the results of reviewing and evaluating the current status of protection, preservation and promotion of national treasures in Binh Duong province.

According to the report, in Binh Duong province, there are currently 03 national treasures recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism including: Doc Chua animal statue; Phu Chanh bronze drum lid wooden jar tomb; Phu Chanh wooden weaving tool set. The national treasures in Binh Duong province are currently kept at Binh Duong Provincial Museum.

Immediately after receiving the decision to recognize national treasures, these artifacts were placed in the storage facility by the Provincial Museum, equipped with preservation facilities suitable for each national treasure. The Provincial Museum made copies of 03 national treasures "Doc Chua animal statue", "Phu Chanh bronze drum lid wooden jar tomb", "Phu Chanh wooden weaving tool set" in 2022 and currently copies of 03 national treasures are on permanent display at the Museum since 2023. Three copies of national treasures are placed in glass cabinets in the exhibition room, each with its own lock. Inside the pedestal where the artifacts are placed, there is a thermometer to monitor temperature and humidity.

Preservation of each treasure: The Provincial Museum carries out regular preventive preservation of artifacts and national treasures. Monitor the environment, humidity, and appropriate temperature, observe artifacts with the naked eye, and keep a logbook; periodically spray chemicals against microorganisms and insects in and around the warehouse. In 2023, the Museum equipped a lockable storage box to protect national treasures.

In the work of preserving artifacts, especially for the preservation using chemicals or preservation means that have an impact on artifacts, there is a detailed implementation plan from the professional staff of the Museum's Professional Department through the Museum's Scientific Council. The three national treasures of Binh Duong Museum "Doc Chua animal statue, "Phu Chanh bronze drum lid wooden jar tomb", "Phu Chanh wooden weaving tool set" have not changed since being recognized as national treasures until now; the specialized department managing the warehouse monitors the artifacts to preserve them in an environment with appropriate humidity and temperature, preventing damage or strengthening the structure of the artifacts.

With the implementation of security, safety and risk response measures, the Museum has developed a plan to organize fire prevention and fighting, rescue and first aid drills at the museum when risks occur. Choose suitable locations to place fire extinguishers, convenient for risk handling. Propaganda to raise awareness, roles and responsibilities of officials and employees in complying with legal regulations on fire prevention and fighting at the museum.

Closely coordinate with the PA03 Department of Binh Duong Provincial Police to ensure the safety of national treasures during transportation and during exhibition. Coordinate and hand over with the 24/7 security guard at the exhibition site.

The report also said that in the coming time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will implement the work of strengthening the protection, preservation, promotion of the value of national treasures and ensuring the safety of valuable relics and antiquities at historical - cultural relics and scenic spots according to the direction in Official Dispatch No. 2373/BVHTTDL-DSVH dated May 29, 2025 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
