Duong Thi Dieu (2008), is studying in grade 11 at Bac Giang Mountainous College. Dieu and her younger sister Duong Thi Oanh (2015) are orphans. After many years of treatment for thyroid disease that turned into blood cancer, her mother passed away in 2021. In 2022, her father was also diagnosed with late-stage esophageal cancer and passed away in December 2024.
Currently, Dieu and her sister are living with their grandmother Vi Thi Binh (1950) in the old house left by their parents. The family of their uncle who lives next door often comes to take care of the two sisters. Dieu is suffering from a congenital hemangioma and is gradually developing complications. From a small red spot on her face, it has now grown into a rough, raised patch of skin with a dark pink color. The tumor is growing larger in the lower lip area, causing her lips to become larger and tighter. Occasionally, Dieu's lips bleed and have yellow fluid.
Since the day her father passed away, Dieu's uncle, Duong Van Xuan (1985), has been taking care of the forest that her father left behind and the family's 3 sao of rice fields. Xuan's family is not well off and they have to take care of 2 young children who are still in school age. Xuan himself is always worried because he cannot take care of Dieu and her siblings' education.
Having lost both parents, Dieu and her sister can only rely on each other. Every day, her uncle and aunt are the ones who cook for them and their grandmother. Dieu is studying at a college about 20km away from home. Every morning, she has to walk about 2km to the bus stop to catch the bus to school. Oanh is currently in 4th grade and has achieved excellent academic results for many years. With a dream of becoming an artist, she always wished to have a set of drawing tools to satisfy her passion. However, because she understood and felt the difficult circumstances of her family, she never dared to ask her uncle and aunt.
To this day, the pain of losing their parents has not yet subsided for Dieu and her sister. The two children often hug each other and cry when they remember their parents.
Faced with the character's situation, MC Thanh Thao could not hold back her tears. The female MC sympathized with the fate of the 17-year-old girl who had suffered so much pain, continuously lost her parents, and had a serious illness. Moreover, MC Thanh Thao also admired Dieu's determination. She thought that she had to be very strong to be able to overcome the difficulties in life to continue studying, and continue to be a support for her younger sister.
Backstage, MC Thanh Thao took off the necklace she always wears to give to Ngoc Dieu. She shared: “This is the necklace that carries my faith. Faith here means believing in my own efforts and attempts. I hope a miracle will come to my child .” The female MC said that she wants Dieu to have more faith in life, trying to overcome challenges in the future. Besides giving the necklace, the female MC will connect with doctors as well as call on everyone to support Dieu in her treatment.
Athlete Tran Thi Thanh Thuy choked up when she saw Dieu and her sister standing alone in the program because their parents had both passed away. Seeing Dieu burst into tears when mentioning her parents and her hemangioma, Thanh Thuy could not help but cry too. She gave many words of encouragement and comfort to the two sisters and decided to give Oanh a set of drawing tools so that she could fulfill her dream of becoming an artist, to draw the happy family scene as she wished.
Luong Thi Ngoc Lan (2010), a 9th grade student at Lam Cot Secondary School, Bac Giang Province, is one of the characters in episode 139. In 2016, Ngoc Lan lost her younger brother to a drowning accident, leaving a deep pain in the hearts of her entire family. Before the pain had subsided, seven years later, her father suddenly passed away from a stroke while working at a construction site. Since then, Ngoc Lan and her younger sister Luong Ngoc Nhu (2017) have become fatherless.
After her husband passed away, Ms. Duong Thi Phuong (1977) - Lan's mother became the breadwinner of the family. Ms. Phuong's family had 2 sao of rice fields and rented 3 more sao for cultivation. Because of her pitiful situation, the landowner sympathized and did not charge rent. Each year, she worked 2 crops, harvesting about 200 kg of rice. In addition, the family also planted fruit trees.
Ms. Phuong herself is suffering from many diseases such as: left kidney stones, gastric reflux, cervical spondylosis, intercostal nerve, right liver cyst, which makes her health increasingly decline. She often has difficulty breathing, pain and discomfort but does not dare to take medicine because she is afraid of wasting money. Only when she is in too much pain and cannot bear it anymore, she takes medicine and then tries to go to work. Now, Ms. Phuong can barely see clearly in one eye, making her worried about whether she will have enough health to continue taking care of her children in the coming days.
Not only did her mother suffer from the disease, but Ngoc Lan's younger sister, Ngoc Nhu, also suffered from a congenital hemangioma since she was a child. Because she loved her child, despite being poor and sick, Ms. Phuong still tried to work to take care of her child. After 2 years of treatment and taking medicine regularly, Ngoc Nhu's health gradually stabilized. In addition to the hemangioma, Ngoc Nhu also suffered from myopia and congenital astigmatism but had not had the opportunity to go to the doctor.
After the sudden passing of their father, Ngoc Lan and Ngoc Nhu were each supported with 500,000 VND/month as orphans. The family's house was built in 2008 and has deteriorated in many places. Difficulties piled on difficulties but still did not discourage Ngoc Lan. She has been an excellent student for many years, won 3rd prize in the district-level excellent student competition and was selected to review for the provincial excellent student competition. Ngoc Lan always wanted to study well to earn money to treat her mother's illness and take care of her younger sister in the future.
Witnessing the character's situation, singer Tuan Cry burst into tears out of sympathy; “My father passed away before I was born, so I always felt deprived and empty. The feeling of loneliness and grievance always surrounded me. I also understand the feeling of a family with only the mother having to shoulder everything. To me, my mother is a hard-working, hard-working and miserable person. My mother has gone through many ups and downs in life, when she had to accept going far away to work, leaving me to be raised by my grandparents. It is certainly not easy for a mother to be away from her child for more than ten years, only being able to visit her child every 2-3 years. I understand, it is a great struggle in her heart. And that is why, in my eyes, my mother is always an extremely great woman.”
The male singer added that when he was young, he not only felt sorry for himself because he lacked his father's love, but also blamed his mother many times for working far away. The male singer used to think that his mother did not love him, so she left him at his maternal grandparents' house. However, when he grew up, he realized that his mother had to work hard to earn money to send to his grandmother to raise him and he gradually sympathized with his mother and loved her more. "To me, the image of my mother is always strong. Because a woman who has to work hard in society is very different from the image of a man." - Tuan Cry emphasized.
