Lai Chau: Meeting with people with revolutionary contributions and typical policy families in the province

(laichau.gov.vn) This morning (August 26), the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province held a meeting with people with revolutionary contributions and typical policy families on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025). Comrade Tong Thanh Hai - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended and directed the conference.

Attending the Conference were comrade Sung A Ho - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, the Provincial Party Committee Office, the Office of the National Assembly Delegation and Provincial People's Council, the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, the Department of Home Affairs, the Provincial People's Committee Office; the Standing Committee of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of provincial political and social organizations, departments, offices, and units under the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front and nearly 150 delegates who are people with meritorious services to the revolution, typical policy families in Lai Chau province.

This is an occasion to show the deep concern of the Party, the State, and the province for people with meritorious services to the revolution and families with meritorious services; to demonstrate the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" and "Repaying gratitude" of our nation; to honor and show gratitude for the great contributions of people with meritorious services to the revolution and families with meritorious services to the cause of national liberation, building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

At the Conference, Comrade Hoang Kieu Anh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee reported an overview of the province's socio -economic development in recent times. Accordingly, implementing the Central's direction on streamlining the apparatus and implementing the 2-level government model in the direction of streamlining, compactness, strength, efficiency, effectiveness, ensuring synchronization and unity; the whole province reduced 892 organizations, agencies and units (reducing 11 provincial-level agencies, 176 department-level units under provincial-level agencies, 705 department-level units under district-level agencies). After the arrangement and merger, the province has 38 communes and wards. Currently, the province has a population of over 512 thousand people with 20 ethnic groups living together.

In recent years, with the attention of the Party, the State and the drastic participation of the entire political system in the province. The province's socio-economy has gradually overcome difficulties and challenges after the Covid-19 pandemic, continuing to recover and grow. The total product in the province is estimated at 5.4%/year, per capita is estimated at 65 million VND, an increase of 21.3 million VND compared to 2020. The economic structure continues to shift in the right direction, with agriculture, forestry and fishery accounting for 14.21%; industry and construction accounting for 44.53%; services accounting for 35.36%; product taxes minus product subsidies accounting for 5.9%...

To achieve these results, the province has issued and implemented many policies on economic development. Focusing on promoting restructuring and shifting the agricultural sector towards concentrated commodities associated with linking production, processing, and product consumption, improving competitiveness in the market; the growth rate of the agricultural, forestry, and fishery sectors is estimated at 5%/year. It is estimated that by the end of 2025, the total output of grain food will reach 226 thousand tons; the forest coverage rate will increase to 52.86%; the budget revenue in the province will grow by an average of 2.3%/year, estimated to reach 2,613 billion VND by 2025. The system of educational and training facilities has been streamlined, in line with the reality of the province. Effectively implementing policies and strategies on people's health care, the quality of medical examination and treatment and health care for people has been improved, meeting the people's needs for medical examination and treatment.

Pay attention to effectively implementing key programs on preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural identities of ethnic groups in association with tourism development. Poverty reduction work is always given attention, prioritized resources for implementation, fully, promptly and effectively implementing policies to support ethnic minorities and mountainous areas. Social security work is focused on; promoting the tradition of "Drinking water, remembering its source" of the nation, implementing well the policies for people with meritorious services; child care and protection work is maintained and implemented well...

Speaking at the Conference, Comrade Tong Thanh Hai, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, expressed deep gratitude to the Heroes of the Armed Forces, war invalids, sick soldiers, meritorious people, and policy families who have made great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation, and the development of the province. At the same time, it is recommended that local Party committees, authorities, agencies and units in the whole province continue to pay attention to the work of caring for people with meritorious services to the revolution and policy families, focusing on implementing well the following key tasks: Further promote propaganda work on the great sacrifices and contributions of the Heroes of the Armed Forces, war invalids, sick soldiers, relatives of martyrs, and people with meritorious services to the revolution, thereby arousing patriotism, strongly promoting the tradition of "When drinking water, remember the source", "When eating fruit, remember the person who planted the tree", and the spirit of great national unity. Continue to pay attention to and better implement the work of caring for people with meritorious services, policy families, especially those with meritorious services, policy families in difficult circumstances, lonely, remote areas, and ethnic minority areas.
