Strengthening security and safety for tourists

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong signed Official Dispatch No. 4364/BVHTTDL-DLQGVN to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities on strengthening the work of ensuring security and safety for tourists.

The document stated that in order to successfully achieve the set growth targets, as well as ensure security and order during major holidays, especially the upcoming September 2nd holiday, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to step up work to ensure security and safety for tourists .

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recommends that localities strengthen security and safety for tourists.

In particular, continue to implement Directive No. 18/CT-TTg dated September 4, 2013 of the Prime Minister on strengthening the management of the tourism environment, ensuring security and safety for tourists and Directive No. 14/CT-TTg dated July 2, 2015 of the Prime Minister on strengthening the effectiveness of state management, focusing on overcoming weaknesses, promoting tourism development.

Specifically, disseminate and guide businesses and tourism service establishments to publicly list prices, sell at the right price and ensure the correct quantity, quality, and weight of goods and services for tourists; not solicit, stalk, oppress, or cheat tourists; ensure environmental hygiene in business areas; invest in building standard toilets to serve tourists; ensure food hygiene and safety provided to tourists...; ensure security and safety for tourists;

Invest in product development and improve the quality of tourism products and services...; Strengthen the direction and regular and unscheduled inspection of the implementation of legal regulations on tourism environment, promptly prevent and strictly handle violations according to the provisions of law.

Continue to implement Directive No. 10/CT-TTg dated January 31, 2021 of the Prime Minister on protecting national security and ensuring social order and safety in the tourism sector in the new situation.

Continue to implement measures to ensure safety for tourists for tourism products that pose risks to the life and health of tourists according to the provisions of the 2017 Tourism Law and Decree No. 168/2017/ND-CP dated December 31, 2017 of the Government detailing a number of articles of the Tourism Law.

In particular, it is necessary to urge and resolutely direct organizations and individuals operating in the tourism sector to further promote their sense of responsibility and ensure absolute safety for tourists when participating in tourism products that may affect the lives and health of tourists in order to prevent risks and unfortunate incidents; at the same time, continuously warn, remind and guide people and tourists about risks and safety measures with easy-to-remember and easy-to-implement content and messages through traditional methods as well as new communication methods, digital transformation applications, artificial intelligence (AI)...
