(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Originally a mining engineer, Ha Van Hanh in Xuan Hung commune (Tho Xuan) has a passion for farming and raising livestock. After many years of wandering, when he returned to his hometown, he saw that the hill area in Xuan Tan village in the same commune was almost deserted, not promoting the value of the land fund. From then on, he had the idea of ​​getting rich on his hometown land, returning to bid for a 3-hectare hill area in 2017.

“Initially, this hill named 32 was quite barren, even cassava was stunted. Then I gradually improved it, adding manure to increase the humus and nutrients of the soil. From there, I developed a grapefruit hill and many types of fruit trees. After learning about the technical process, I boldly invested all my capital to build more barns and dig fish ponds at the foot of the hill,” said Mr. Hanh.

In animal husbandry, he gradually developed the Hoa Binh chicken flock, at its peak there were batches of up to 10,000 chickens. The difference here is that the chickens are only kept in captivity for about 1 month, then released onto a large grapefruit hill. The chickens are exercised a lot, exposed to direct sunlight, so there are rarely any diseases. Also because of the semi-natural farming method, the quality of chicken meat here is much better than that of caged farms, and traders and partners bring trucks to collect and sell. Along with that, he processes his own feed from corn and agricultural by-products, following food safety procedures, so the chickens are recognized as meeting VietGAP standards in 2023. In recent years, he has had long-term contracts to purchase chicken products from a number of businesses, including GASAVI Joint Stock Company. According to Mr. Hanh, because the quality of chicken meat raised here is highly appreciated by partners, it always has a high price. The lowest price is 80 thousand VND, the highest is about 110 thousand VND/kg at the barn. Each year, chicken farming alone brings in a profit of about 800 million VND.

In addition to chickens, he also developed an average pig herd of about 100 pigs per litter in an industrial direction. Each year, he exports 3 litters of pigs, earning a profit of more than 500 million VND. All waste from chicken and pig farms is collected and processed into fertilizer for crops. Since then, the fruit garden has been green all year round, and the 3-hectare grapefruit hill is always full of fruit. From 2018-2020, with favorable conditions from the locality, he continued to contract and rent the gentle hillsides next to it to develop nearly 4 hectares of pineapple, 2.2 hectares of sugarcane, and 0.8 hectares of cassava. Up to now, the total area of ​​this comprehensive economic model has been expanded to 10 hectares, becoming one of the largest farms in Tho Xuan district.

Taking advantage of the ponds at the foot of the hill, in recent years, the farm owner born in 1983 has also developed about 2,000 ducks and geese. Poultry manure is the food source for hybrid catfish farms. Far from residential areas, and with the construction of a livestock waste treatment system and the application of biological bedding in chicken farms, environmental issues are guaranteed.

To have a stable source of broiler chickens to supply regularly to partners, Mr. Hanh called and gathered 7 more farm owners in the area to establish Tan Hung Phat Agricultural Cooperative to support each other. The members all develop organic farming, taking food hygiene and safety as a competitive criterion for sustainable development. Increasingly creating prestige for the product, many other establishments have joined, up to now the Cooperative has 11 members, becoming the largest collective economic model for developing chicken farming in Tho Xuan district.

According to Mr. Ha Van Hanh's accounting, the total profit from the farming and livestock activities of the production area in recent years has reached about 2.2 billion VND per year. Up to now, he has also invested more than 3 billion VND in the system of barns, production infrastructure and automatic irrigation system for the fruit hills. With a large amount of daily work, in addition to family labor, he also creates stable jobs for 8 local workers with an average income of 8 million VND/month.
