Suffering from end-stage kidney failure and complications affecting her heart and liver, every month Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy in Hoa Thinh commune (Tay Hoa district) has to buy millions of dong worth of medicine not covered by health insurance to maintain her health.
Being a poor family with two small children, she almost ran out of hope... Receiving 15 million VND in support from the provincial Red Cross Society, she felt like she had been given more mental strength to continue fighting the disease.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy expressed: I thank the Red Cross for helping my family with money to get by during difficult times. My leg is infected so I have to constantly take medicine to avoid getting a fever when I have dialysis. Now I just need a little bit of health to have more time to take care of my children. They are still too young, if something happens to me, I don't know where they will depend on.
The family of Mr. Nguyen Van Nong, 74 years old, in Hoa Xuan Tay Ward (Dong Hoa Town) is in a state of exhaustion due to illness. Mr. Nong suffered from a cerebral infarction, severe hepatitis, and the cost of treatment, despite being supported by health insurance, still amounted to tens of millions of dong. After a period of hospitalization, Mr. Nong asked to go home.
Knowing his situation, the provincial Red Cross Society came to hand him 10 million VND to help cover some of the medical expenses. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Chuc, Mr. Nong's wife, confided: Thank you Red Cross Society for helping my husband get medical treatment. The family has no money, every time we go to the hospital we have to borrow 5-10 million VND to cover the expenses. I am old, I can't do anything to earn an income. My children are also suffering, I can't help much.
Bach Thai Phong (born in 2015, in Xuan Quang 3 commune, Dong Xuan district) has a serious illness. Representatives of the provincial Red Cross Society directly visited and supported 10 million VND. Ms. Bach Phuong Hong Vu, Phong's mother, said: Phong has stage 2 chronic kidney failure and both eyes are cataracts. Currently, his kidneys are damaged, while the family is in financial difficulty. The family thanks the Red Cross Society for visiting and giving gifts to the child.
Ms. Le Thi Bich Nhung, Vice Chairwoman of Xuan Quang 3 Commune People's Committee, said: Ms. Vu's family is near-poor and her child has a serious illness. The locality really hopes for the kind heart to support and help Phong's family overcome difficulties.

The Association has implemented movements and campaigns such as "For the poor - leaving no one behind"; "Good people, good deeds - joining hands to build a compassionate community"; "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address".
Mr. Trinh Hoai Binh, Chairman of the Red Cross Society of Dong Xuan district, said: In the mountainous district, the Red Cross Society of the district has proactively advised the local Party Committee and government, coordinated well with the sectors, the Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations to promote internal strength, while mobilizing external support resources to organize humanitarian activities through programs, movements, and campaigns. The charitable, responsible and loving actions of the Society have made an important contribution to caring for people's lives, promptly supporting difficult circumstances, spreading humanitarian activities, and joining hands with the province in social security work.
Sharing about this issue, Mr. Huynh Tan Tinh, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, said: The Provincial Red Cross Society has mobilized people far from home, organizations, mostly from outside the province and Ho Chi Minh City to join hands to help the poor, the disadvantaged, and those with serious illnesses during the Humanitarian Month (May). In the coming time, the Provincial Red Cross Society will continue to coordinate, mobilize, help people and direct the Red Cross societies of districts, towns, and cities throughout the province to continue to carry out volunteer activities to help the poor.
In the journey of fighting against illness and adversity, the family was exhausted, the Provincial Red Cross Society promptly supported with gifts as a source of strength, motivation, hope to share and spread love in life. The contributions from children far from home, the hearts of philanthropists and the tireless steps of the Red Cross Society staff... together draw a lasting humanitarian journey for a better and better community life.
