The "extended arm" of humanitarian activities

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - With the spirit of “Where there are difficulties, there are Red Cross volunteers” (CTĐ), those “red flowers” have quietly spread their fragrance on every road. They are the ones who silently collect love, bring the light of humanity to the less fortunate; are the “extended arm” of the humanitarian movement, contributing to spreading the values of humanity and sharing in society.

Volunteers of the Tourism Charity Club give gifts to people in difficult circumstances.

When mentioning the person who sows the seeds of goodness and spreads love in Bim Son, everyone thinks of "U Doanh". That is the affectionate way of calling Ms. Truong Thi Doanh (born in 1960) - Head of Bim Son Charity Club. Born in Ninh Binh province, but destined for Bim Son (Thanh Hoa), the slender woman with a heart of goodness has tirelessly shared love with many difficult lives. From the early days, Ms. Doanh quietly collected clothes, rice, and small change to help poor households in the locality. Over time, Ms. Doanh's quiet and meaningful activities have spread and attracted many people to participate. With the desire to have a systematic and long-term organization to spread the spirit of "the rich help the poor", in 2011, Ms. Doanh officially established the Bim Son Charity Club.

Ms. Truong Thi Doanh shared: “I think I am not rich in money but I have health and time, so I will help whoever I can. Sometimes just a warm shirt or a bowl of porridge is enough to warm the recipient’s heart. The more I do, the more I feel sorry for the difficult situations and I vow to go everywhere to help them as long as I have the strength.”

Since the club was founded, Ms. Doanh and her members have not only supported people in difficult circumstances locally, but their humanitarian and charitable activities have also spread far and wide. Hundreds of volunteer trips, thousands of gifts, meals, hundreds of millions of VND in cash and tons of necessities have been given to people in difficult circumstances in remote areas, poor students, and patients with special circumstances.

Unlike the image of a group leader like Ms. Doanh, Ms. Mai Thi Thanh (Hac Thanh ward) is an enthusiastic volunteer of the Provincial Red Cross Association. With more than 15 years of volunteer work, Ms. Thanh has become a familiar face in relief groups, donating and distributing gifts in flood-hit areas or difficult lands.

Ms. Thanh is currently a member of the Thanh Hoa Tourism Charity Club. She and other members actively search for and survey difficult situations, organize volunteer activities, and actively mobilize resources, connecting philanthropists with people in need. Ms. Thanh shared: “I have traveled to many places and witnessed many difficult lives, so I always want to bring a little warmth to them. There are places that I cannot forget, and there are situations that I cannot stop worrying about. Those images haunt me forever. So I keep going, keep mobilizing friends and relatives to contribute.”

With the desire to share love, Ms. Thanh and the members of the Travel Charity Club have helped thousands of people in difficult circumstances through self-organized club activities and activities in conjunction with the Provincial Red Cross Association.

According to statistics of the Provincial Red Cross Association, up to now, the association has 127 volunteer clubs and 8,412 core volunteers. These are quite impressive numbers, not only reflecting the scale but also demonstrating the strong influence of the humanitarian and volunteer movement in the community of the Provincial Red Cross Association. Along with the association's staff, each club, each volunteer group, each volunteer is a bright spot, hearts that do not fear difficulties, ready to share love. From the mountains to the plains, from urban to rural areas, everywhere you can see the image of red shirts working diligently with charity meals, by the hospital beds, by the makeshift houses of the poor or in voluntary blood donation activities, first aid for accident victims.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Association, said: The Association always considers volunteers and volunteer clubs as the core force, providing effective support, bringing success to the humanitarian and charitable activities of the Red Cross Association, contributing to the Association's good implementation of social security tasks, creating a spreading effect in the community. Therefore, the Association has assigned staff to be directly in charge of volunteer work. At the same time, the Association regularly provides information on the fields of activities so that Red Cross clubs and volunteers can grasp them promptly. Organize training courses to improve the capacity of the association for participating volunteers. Encourage the establishment of clubs under the Red Cross Association. Through that, humanitarian activities are connected, monitored, ensuring the right people, the right objects, transparency and timeliness. Together with volunteers, the Provincial Red Cross Association has implemented many models and activities with effective methods, receiving the response of many classes of people, gradually improving the position of the organization.
