Immediately after the merger of administrative units nationwide was completed, the VNeID electronic identification application also updated the personal information of each citizen. From July 1, 2025, people can access the application to view details about their address and hometown after the merger.

Instead of displaying information according to the old commune/ward, district/city, province/city structure, the address is edited according to the new standard. To see the exact address and new hometown on the VNeID application, users need to go to the App Store or Google Play to update to the latest version, then follow these steps:
• Method 1: Log in to the VNeID application > Select ID Card/CCCD > Enter password to unlock > Electronic ID. Here, users will see data fields that have been updated according to the new administrative boundaries including: Place of birth; Place of birth registration; Hometown; Permanent residence; Temporary residence; Current residence.
• Method 2 : Log in to VNeID application > Paper wallet > View detailed information > Enter password to unlock. Here, new information will also be displayed in detail. People can compare the old hometown address printed on the CCCD with the newly updated address to know how their hometown, place of birth, and place of residence have changed.
• Method 3 : Log in to the VNeID application > Paper wallet > Residential information > Enter password to unlock. In addition to personal information fields, this section also displays detailed information of other members of the household. People can also view electronic household registration in this section. Information about personal identification number, date of birth, gender, relationship with the head of household of family members.
According to user feedback, on the morning of July 1, the VNeID application was sometimes difficult to access due to the large number of simultaneous users. Citizens just need to close the application and reopen it to be able to use it normally.
