A whole sky of memories

BAC NINH - Cuc Huong is the daughter of the late Professor Nguyen Dong Chi, Vietnam's leading folklore researcher.

She is a bachelor of Publishing University, very good at editing, the editor of the book "A whole sky of memories" which records many beautiful stories about friendship, love from Kinh Bac land, memories of middle school and high school days in Hiep Hoa, Bac Giang (old). I was lucky to have "A whole sky of memories" when I visited them at 449, Phan Van Tri, An Nhon ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Cuc Huong wrote on the cover: "With love and respect for the simple, honest but open-hearted people in Mai Phong village, Mai Trung commune, Hiep Hoa district, Bac Giang province (formerly) who sheltered the evacuated families when American planes fiercely bombed them from 1965 to 1972. Especially the teachers and classmates from the same village and school who lived and studied together during their middle and high school years at that time."

55 years of old school and old class, 55 years of old friends. So many touching stories, so many beautiful, bright and pure images of a time of youth. The Thuong River and Cau River, the homeland of Quan Ho, have become legendary, so loving and memorable, encapsulated in 3 chapters of the book. The family of Mr. Tao and Mr. Tao, Ms. Xuan in Mai Phong, where the library of the Institute of History is located, more than half a century has passed, with deep affection. The family considers the children from Hanoi who were evacuated and educated as their own children, as their own brothers.

Being well-behaved, polite, respectful to teachers and loving children are considered traditions and beautiful lifestyles in Kinh Bac countryside and the whole country. Cuc Huong recalls: The whole group of 12th graders from Hiep Hoa High School, on the way home from school, met their teacher, the whole group got off their bicycles, folded their hands and greeted him. The teacher was touched and did not forget to remind the students: "You are very good, but when participating in traffic, you do not need to get off the bike to greet the teacher to avoid dangerous situations." The story was praised by the principal during the flag-raising ceremony on Monday morning, making the students very happy.

In the autumn of Hanoi and Kinh Bac, Cuc Huong and her friends made an appointment to return to the capital to watch the parade celebrating the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, and to revisit Mai Phong and Hiep Hoa - the place where they once took care of and met teachers and friends during the war.
