The 2025-2026 school year has the theme: 'Discipline, creativity, breakthrough, development'

(DN)- On the afternoon of August 22, in Hanoi, a national online conference was held to summarize the 2024-2025 school year and deploy tasks for the 2025-2026 school year. Attending and chairing the conference was Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. Co-chairing the conference were Party Central Committee member and Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long and Party Central Committee member and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son.

The conference was connected online with People's Committees of provinces, cities and universities across the country.

Attending the conference at the bridge point of the State Bloc headquarters of Dong Nai province were comrades: Ton Ngoc Hanh, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Le Truong Son, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Board of Directors of the Department of Education and Training; departments, branches, localities, and universities in the province.

The 2024-2025 school year takes place in the context of many positive changes in the domestic socio-economic situation; the political system is being reorganized towards streamlining, effectiveness and efficiency. Major policies of the Party and State continue to be perfected and implemented synchronously, creating a favorable foundation for the education sector to successfully carry out the tasks of the school year. This is also the time when the entire education sector deploys the Government's Action Program to implement Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW, dated August 12, 2024 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training; the school year marks the end of the term of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, towards the 14th National Party Congress.

Teaching and learning continue to improve in quality, and examinations have many innovations in the direction of properly assessing the quality of teaching and learning, encouraging teachers and students to innovate effective teaching and learning methods. Investment in school facilities and teaching equipment, especially in remote and isolated schools, has received attention. The education sector continues to promote the application of digital transformation in management, teaching and learning, and examinations, while proactively promoting human resource training in new technology fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor microchips, chips, etc. Especially in the 2024-2025 school year, Vietnamese students continue to win many high prizes in international competitions and competitions. The intelligence of Vietnamese students continues to be affirmed when they are always in the top 10 countries and territories with participating students.

The 2025-2026 school year is the first school year to implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development of the Party, the National Assembly and the Government, so the entire education and training sector will be determined to act effectively according to the theme: "Discipline, creativity, breakthrough, development".

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed the position, role and importance of education and training, especially in the period of national development. The Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary To Lam, have paid great attention and issued many policies to create development breakthroughs, including the "four pillars" that are being vigorously implemented.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the education and training sector must focus on transforming the state from considering education and training as the work of the education sector to the common task of the entire political system, the entire people, and the entire society. Implementing the shift from equipping knowledge to developing comprehensive capacity of learners, at the same time, it is necessary to innovate thinking, methodology, and approach in the direction that all citizens must have equal access to education and training, especially the disadvantaged, people in remote areas, ethnic minorities.

The Prime Minister directed the education and training sector to develop advanced, modern, unified programs and curricula that are suitable for the country's development. Learning must go hand in hand with practice, real learning, real exams, real results.

Prioritize resources for investment in facilities and teaching equipment for preschool and general education institutions to meet the needs of the 2018 Preschool Education Program and General Education Program. The sector builds and develops a team of teachers with adequate qualities and capacities, equal to the task; overcomes the surplus and shortage of teachers, ensuring the principle of "where there are students, there must be teachers in the classroom".

The Prime Minister especially noted that the education sector must pay attention to developing education for children and students in areas with difficult economic and social conditions, ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, border areas, and islands. Implement the policy of supporting lunch for primary and secondary school students in border communes on the mainland from the 2025-2026 school year.

The head of the Government requested the entire sector to focus on thoroughly grasping, synchronously, drastically and effectively implementing the Politburo's resolution on breakthroughs in education and training development as soon as the resolution is issued; continue to review and plan the network of preschool, general education, continuing education, education for the disabled, higher education and pedagogical colleges, and vocational education. Relevant parties will build primary and secondary boarding schools in 248 land border communes, initially piloting investment in building or renovating 100 schools in 2025...
